About this listen

When the luxury cruiser, hastily renamed Great Britain, berths in Kinloch harbour, the pressure is on DCI Jim Daley. The UK government are taking a high-powered group of businessmen and women on a tour of the British isles, golfing and seeing the sights, as part of a push for global trade. But when one of the crew goes missing, and an elderly local ornithologist disappears, will the pressure become too great?

The arrival of a face from the past sends Daley’s world into a tailspin. And the lives of the passengers and crew of SS Great Britain as well as the country’s economic future are in jeopardy. DS Brian Scott comes to the fore and, replete with a temporary promotion, is once more - most reluctantly, in his case - back at sea.

Daley faces a life and death struggle, but is this his last throw of the dice?

Loved all the characters and their portrayal by the narrator. D & D make a great pair of Audible authors and narrators!

Excellent storytelling

Good story, but not my favorite. I prefer mysteries where I have a fair shot at solving it. I felt this was a situation where the author kept far too much from the reader and sort of did a gotcha at the end. The narrator is absolutely fantastic for these books and a delight to listen to. I really enjoy all the characters with the exception of Jim's wife Liz. I find their relationship tedious but thankfully, she's not in the book much. Well worth the listen.

Solid Installment

As in the previous books, absolutely Love the characters, especially Scott, but the whole cast is engaging. Great story., I was totally engrossed in the mystery, for once I did not guess early on who the true villain was. Then, in the final chapter the author turns to the dark side, leaving us with a very unpleasant cliffhanger. If I knew how bad the ending would be, I surly would have waited for the next in the series and read as one. Up till now I thought this series to be one of the best, now not so sure.

ends in agonizing cliff hanger, so disappointing

After I finished Dark Suits and Sad Songs this was listed as next in series, but it’s not. It is a really good story, but it was a spoiler for the book I should have read as Book 4. The books aren’t labeled well on Amazon, a problem I’ve found with many series.

Be careful, this is NOT the sequel to Book 3

Will need to read the next book just to see how this soap opera ends . Afraid author has lost his way ....with all the back soap opera story backstories

Turned in "Days of Our Life"

The plot outline of the mystery is good and some of the characters are OK particularly Scott. But I’m not buying the relationship between the main character and his cheating wife nor his temper tantrums. His character feels out of kilter to me. The comedic relief falls flat. Also, the cliff hanger stunt at the end was annoying. Sorry, but I’m moving on.

I came back after giving this a rest, but no go
