(I received a free copy for an honest review.)After a very graphic opening, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue listening. Ultimately, I’m not sure if I’m glad I kept going.
Mr. Jones does an exceptional job weaving reality with fiction. For the conspiracy buff inside, this is the perfect first step into a deep paranoia.
Very well written, I did question what’s real a few times, and because of that I couldn’t help but keep listening, dragged into an adult wonderland of twisted reality.
It feels as if there is only one character in the book and his is the only reality. However, his explanations seem plausible enough that when he says Google it, you’re sorely tempted, except that you want to hear more rather than be distracted by search pages.

One of the more unusual things about this book that I have never seen before is that the author is also the main character with the same job. The MC is a writer of books about the paranormal, especially books dealing with satanism. He is an atheist who doesn't believe in the devil anymore than he believes in God, but he does believe there is evil in the world, and he writes about it in its many forms.
It during his research for his latest book about a devil worshiping group known as the Nine Angels that the trouble really begins when he goes with his homicide detective sergeant friend to a mental hospital to witness the interrogation of woman named Jennifer Booth who is the main suspect in a grizzly murder. She notices him behind the two way mirror that she cannot possibly see through. Conrad, on the other hand, is convinced that she is is innocent of the charges and vows to find a way to prove it.
However, when those connected with the investigation begin dying all over the place Conrad gets scared. But when a park ranger tries to firebomb his house with him in it and a rogue police officer appears at his door ready to kill him Conrad kills his first two people and goes on the run with his dog.
If you want to know all of what leads up to this point or what happens next you are just going to have to read the story or listen to the audio book. I have the sequel to this book already on my Android tablet ready to be listened to in just another day or two.
I can only hope that the sequel is as exciting as the original.
I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review!
