Publisher's summary

Nearly 40 years ago, Ralph Martin's best-selling A Crisis of Truth exposed the damaging trends in Catholic teaching and preaching that, combined with attacks from secular society, threatened the mission and life of the Catholic Church. While much has been done to counter false teaching over the last four decades, today the church faces even more insidious threats from outside and within.

In A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward, Martin offers a detailed look at the growing hostility to the Catholic Church and its teaching. With copious evidence, Martin uncovers the forces working to undermine the Body of Christ and offers hope to those looking for clarity.

A Church in Crisis covers:

  • Polarization in the church caused by ambiguous teachings
  • Initiatives that accommodate the culture without calling for conversion
  • Vatican-sponsored partnerships with organizations that actively contradict the teaching of the Catholic Church
  • And the recycling of theological errors long settled by Vatican II, Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI

Powerfully written, A Church in Crisis reminds all listeners to heed Jesus' express command not to lead his children astray. With ample resources to encourage readers, Ralph Martin provides the solid foundation of Catholic teaching both Scripture and tradition to fortify Catholics against the errors that threaten us from all directions.

A balanced and well studied work

This was an incredibly balanced and well-studied work that was also very well narrated by it's original author. For both those convinced that there are no problems within Christ's church and for those who feel nearly overwhelmed or dispirited by the problems they see within the church, or even just for anyone else of solid christian faith and an interest in Catholicism, this is a must read.

excellent overview of the ills of the Church plus

VERY INFORMATIVE...a must read for those who care about the culture war. Members of the clergy, especially bishops, could use a dose of reality portrayed in this book.

Great Analysis, Few Solutions

Perhaps the best analysis of the problems facing the church I’ve ever read, but very few practical solutions are offered. Also it’s really long. But an expert analysis incorporating scripture thoughtfully throughout. God save us!

Author Narrates the Truth

I am well aware there are many who do not like audible books that are narrated by the author. I am NOT one of them (unless it is fiction).

Furthermore, I am a big fan of Ralph Martin and consequently and frequently watch his YouTube channel, Renewal Ministries. I enjoy listening to his Spirit led and grandfather-like delivery. Nonetheless, if the listener does not, and is finding it difficult and or distracting to listen, then I would strongly encourage said person to BUY AND READ the physical book because this message needs to be heard. Let us pray for each other's holiness and God's blessings to be upon us.
God bless Ralph Martin and his ministry.

Loved it! A must read for Catholics!

Thank you for all the hard work in getting this book to print. An excellent resource for lay men, clergy and seminarians. Delves into uncomfortable issues within the Church, while at the same time showing how there is always hope moving forward....

Considering “A Church in Crisis”

I have just listened to Ralph Martin read me his book,’A Church in Crisis”, and would like to make a comment. There are many things to consider, some things revealed here , I was familiar with, and , some were news to me. I want to say it was a bit discouraging when you think about all the challenges we have to deal with, but, in the end, we have God, who is always faithful. I highly recommend listening to this, or getting a paper copy, and passing one out to every priest, bishop, deacon, consecrated religious, and faithful lay person that you are capable of doing…folks, we have lots of work to do. COME HOLY SPIRIT!!!!
Thanks, Ralph.
God bless,
Ellen Roberts

Very Good but…

A needed kick in the spirit. There is a clear call to is from God. Ralph is very good at eliciting a good response from the audience. Heaven and hell are the outcome of our free actions cooperating with building God’s Kingdom or not…
We wished the author while pointing out pitfalls of certain theological and prudential principles, not tear down others like Barron, Francis or Balthasar. These are very important influential fellow Catholics that deserve a more charitable treatment and a full accounting.
Such treatment would provide clear understanding and continue to build the kingdom. For example, universalism is of course wrong. Yet it is a matter of opinion not the gospel truth that one individual believes in universalism. Distinguishing between sin and sinner center would be helpful. That was a missed opportunity; finger pointing seemed petty. Or , yes current leadership could be confusing, but would it not be more helpful to remind us that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church -and what we need to do practically rather than finger-pointing?
Regardless, I would recommend the book to everyone knowing that most readers understand there are disagreements between men on points of contention.
