Publisher's summary

Brooklyn has always been a little obsessed with food, but it was her sister, Savannah, who became a chef, graduating from the prestigious Cordon Bleu school in Paris. She and her classmates all went on to successful careers, but none of them achieved culinary superstardom like Savannah's ex-boyfriend Baxter Cromwell.

When Baxter invites the old gang to participate in his new restaurant's gala opening, in San Francisco, Savannah asks Brooklyn to restore a tattered cookbook as a present for him. Shortly after receiving the gift, Baxter is found dead, with Savannah kneeling over him, bloody knife in hand, and the rare cookbook has disappeared. Brooklyn knows her sister didn't kill him, and she suspects the missing cookbook might lead to the real villain.

I loved this book

I only wish more of her book were available on audio. Narrator was excellent as well as the story was great.

Enjoyed it but

Been listening my way through all of these. Some better than others. I do not like to silly review of things and Brooklyn’s mom’s crazy spells. In addition, in this book, Savannah’s voice was soooo annoying! In my experience, biological sister’s sound alike. She could barely speak, and went from sounding drunk to breathless. It was so hard to listen!
Other than that, I enjoyed the story.

Great ending

I was surprised at who was the “bad guy” in this mystery. Lots of fun with Brooklyn getting into cooking, after being surrounded by chefs in the story.
Missed having the neighbors drop by. Thought they would with all the guests. One of the guests being Derick’s brother! Yummy!
The narrator is bad, especially for Savanna’s voice. The English accents are less than believable and are in no way consistent. The French accent is ok, and the Spanish accent is just passable. Even the affect for the dramatically effeminate gay guy is not consistent and makes his remarks less funny.
I look forward to the next book, but am less than enthusiastic about continuing with this narrator. The stories are just too good to pass up.

I love Brookyn!

If you could sum up A Cookbook Conspiracy in three words, what would they be?

I love Brooklyn! She is so amazing. I hated that Audible didn't have the other three books, so I went and ordered the other 3 not on audible. Brooklyn and her odd family are so enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

I hated that Audible didn't have the other three books, so I went and ordered the other 3 not on audible. Brooklyn and her odd family are so enjoyable. I find myself rereading these books so often. This one showcased a different sister, and More to our Mysterious Derrick's background.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book didn't have Minka in it, that made me sad. But I so didn't like how it was more about cooking than it was about books. But, its ok, once I got past the food fact I loved the book mystery, still Less About Books!

Story Great, Narration Horrid

Kate Carlisle's bibliophile mysteries starring Brooklyn and Derek are great. Susie Berneise narration up to now has been OK. This time it was absolutely horrible. One of Brooklyn's sisters, Savannah, is a prime character in the story. She's previously been described as having a soft high pitched voice. Susie started out OK But quickly starts whispering Savannah's voice which continues through the rest of the narrative. She even whispers Derek's voice through many passages and chapters. If it wasn't for the fact that I wanted to finish the story, I would have returned this book immediately.

A little boring

Story wasn't that interesting, however it did make me want to cook. The narrator makes Savannah sound like an imbecile and five year old.
