About this listen

Down-home charm and romance on the ranch.

A Little Bit Country

Stranded on the side of a country road with a broken-down car, Rorie Campbell is grateful when horse rancher Clay Franklin comes to her rescue. Stuck in the quirky small town, Rorie gets to know Clay, and she quickly starts to fall for the gruff, tough cowboy. Can a city girl make it work with a country man? Clay certainly thinks so. But their situation is…complicated. Clay and Rorie will have to sort out their feelings if they're going to be together.

Country Bride

Kate Logan is understandably devastated when her former fiancé marries someone else instead. At the wedding, after one glass of champagne, she spontaneously—foolishly—proposes to her longtime friend Luke Rivers. And Luke agrees. The rancher is a man of his word, and though Kate thinks they're making a mistake, he will not renege on his promise. Not only does he refuse to break the engagement, he insists that Kate actually loves him—and he'll prove it.

This story was nice to fill some time, but certainly nothing to hold me to it. I actually thought of casting it aside part way through but decided to stick with it to see if there were any unexpected twists....there wasn't. Still a good love story, told well.

Nice love story without a challenge

This duet was a real struggle. The storyline and male protagonists, and background characters ( townswfolk) were very patronizing,
it was full of men telling their women how to feel and who to love and literally picking them up and carrying them away when they wouldn't cooperate. I skipped several chapters to get to the predictable ending.

This is in comparison to some of MACOMBER'S more recent work [such as Must Love Flowers], which is fabulous 6 stars if possible, with multidimensional characters and real life struggles.

patronizing, disappointing

i love this author but this book had shallow, unrealistic characters. The female main character was portrayed as weak and incapable.

disappointing

I absolutely love the 2 novels in 1 and especially since it's a continuation of the first. Absolutely remarkable and well written. Now, with both of those written back in 1990... I wonder where these characters are and what they are doing. Would be a great visit to see what happened to the kids in this time many years later. Did the kids connect the 2 families together? or did circumstances move them apart. Only Debbie Knows!!! EXCELLENT job!

She has done it again

A Country Affair started off very Nicholas Sparks like, I felt connected and engaged but somewhat about three quarters through it felt off and anticlimactic. Maybe it’s just me?

Where’s The Climax?!

Ok the narrator had her ups and downs but wasn't that bad and definitely didn't ruin the story. As for the story... I'm usually drawn to thrillers, fantasy, horror, etc. Adrenaline books. On a whim i decided to give romance i try. OMG!! i love this story soooo much! i didn't want it to end! i wish it had its own series. She's now officially one of my favorite authors now too. Have already bought several of her other novels. This story has made a romance fan out of me! Loved it ❤️

Amazing!!

I read a few a of the reviews and saw that they said the narration was irritating, but I thought the books were written by Debbie Macomber, it can’t be too awful. Please take my advice it was! Definitely not worth purchasing!
