Publisher's summary

A Steamy Regency

Lady Elizabeth Fulton is desperate. She must find her brother, the Earl of Leicester, to save her family’s standing. Unfortunately, that means scouring the darkest of London. The man could be anywhere—gambling dens, his mistress’s home, even one of a dozen brothels. If she is discovered, she will be ruined and cast from the ton. But she has no choice, she must find him.

The last thing the Duke of Cambridge expected was to see Lady Elizabeth Fulton making a scene in a gambling den. The woman was sharp-tongued and headstrong, but she wasn’t a fool. When he discovers why, he has no choice but to escort her through the worst parts of London. If he doesn’t, she’ll either end up dead before sunrise, or worse, sold to a Manchester brothel.

Two enemies forced to work together. At first learning to trust, then learning to love.

overall a good listen

I really enjoyed listening to this book overall. There were a few parts I wish were more developed and closer to the end the narration sped up a little. these things are minor and I do recommend!

Good Storyline

This is the first book in The Davenports Series. Interesting characters, and engaging storyline. Sloan Oliver did a good job bringing this story to life. I was giving this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good story

Well written with interesting characters and a lot of twists, misunderstandings, spies and treason. I enjoyed chemistry between the main characters and it has what I always look for a HEA.

Loved it

Defiantly a keeper, my first book by G.L. Snodgrass but will not be my last. The book has all the ingredients for a truly enjoyable read just wish it wasn't only 5 hrs and 20 minutes you could see where this story was not over. It also has some great steam!

Regency Romance with Enemies to Lovers Vibes!!

Not gonna lie, based on this cover, I'd expected this story to have less plot than it did, but I was pleasantly surprised at the plot it had!
Lady Elizabeth is doing her best to find her missing brother, who frequented gambling dens and brothels, when she comes across the Duke of Cambridge. She and the Duke haven't really been on each other's good sides ever since Elizabeth's coming out party and the Duke didn't want to dance with her (talk about a snub!). However, Elizabeth is a little desperate and needs help finding her brother, and the Duke, whose sister is friends with Elizabeth's sister, notices Elizabeth is hanging around places she shouldn't and her reputation could take a hit, so he kindly (or forcefully) decides to help her out. I liked Elizabeth and the Duke's banter! They each gave as good as they got! It was fun going on the adventure through the underbelly of London with those two.
This isn't a traditional enemies to lovers, but I liked it anyway! It's more of a dislike/indifference to lovers with a dash of miscommunication to make it fun. It's a fun, entertaining story with a little bit of steam!

I liked the narrator! She's a new to me narrator and I'd definitely listen to her again! She did a good job differentiating between all the character voices, from the male to the female characters. I listened at 1.15x speed.

A Duke that saves the family

He made a pretty good hero overall. Protect his lady, pay off the debts, save the family from ruin. She promised not to keep secrets and kept them anyway, let her self-doubt get in the way of honesty…fits right in for females of this genre.
Narration was great.

Frustratingly Fun Romance - Adult Read

Parents- R-X rated definitely an adult read 18+
Language- some/mild and no f-bombs
Violence- PG13- some fighting scenes, nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- R to X - Desires, bedroom staging, scenes in Brothels, kissing, a few sheet tumbling scenes with plenty of details- no door closing here

I did like the plot and story line to this one. Elizabeth is trying to track down her brother who's disappeared and if her suspensions are true it will ruin her and her sister. As she begins to search for him she runs into the duke at a gambling house and he insists on helping her to keep her out of gossip and danger. The two work together and the misunderstandings from past and present are ever interfering and frustrating.

The narrator did a great job and was fun to listen to.

Love this Author

I love this author's historical romances. This book was no different. The characters are well developed and although the story was not necessarily believable, it was entertaining and fun to listen to. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the story to life.
