About this listen

From one of the best-known names in historical romance, New York Times best-selling author Sabrina Jeffries, comes a dazzling new series featuring a talk-of-the-ton trio of young women who’ve eschewed working as governesses to utilize their talents for fashion, food, and music, by running their own party planning enterprise, Elegant Occasions. And if they, and their wealthy clients, happen to find love along the way, it just makes their efforts all the more rewarding....

Self-made civil engineer Geoffrey Brookhouse has unexpectedly inherited the dukedom of Greenwood. But he has a secret that could ruin his family. Hoping to save his timid sister from that fate, he seeks to marry her off to a respectable, protective gentleman. With the London Season imminent, Geoffrey hires Elegant Occasions to orchestrate her debut. Yet Lady Diana Harper, spirited fashion expert, proves more than he bargained for. Suddenly, Geoffrey’s sister is emerging from her shell, and he is beleaguered with social invitations and gossip! Worse, Diana is attempting to transform him into a presentable duke—when all he really wants is to make her his own....

Diana doesn’t know what to make of the handsome, disheveled duke. The man bristles at the very idea that his fashion faux pas might spoil his sister’s chances. Yet Geoffrey’s stubbornness simply inspires Diana to ruffle his feathers—by setting him on a course of self-improvement. Although there’s something endearing, even irresistible about his flaws, can a man who hates the ton tolerate a woman who makes her living catering to them? Little does either know that they have more in common than they suspect—and that two can create a society all their own....

Fun read

Considering there was only one narrator, the story was beautifully performed. I fact checked several topics covered in the book and found all of them to be factually correct.

Not bad . . .

This wasn’t too bad. Jeffrey’s arrogance was somewhat annoying, as was Diana’s overeagerness. Still, the story and characters were interesting enough to make me decided to read the next installment.

Divorce in Recency England

I love this author and her books. I learn something from every one. How women were treated because of something they had no control over is shocking. Divorce is way to common these days. It happens for the same reason today as it happened back then, because the couples shouldn't have married in the first place.

VERY GOOD!

A very fun love story between two scandalous situations that turned out to defy the ton & come out on top of society. Narration was also good.

Liked it!

I’m not going to give a summary of the story but I liked Jeffery and Diana and how their romance developed without the usual drawn out first hating one another. I liked all of the supporting characters and guess there will be other stories forthcoming. Narration was good.

Cute story

This was a cute story but not up to the amazing other works by this author. It’s a one time listen and done. The narrator did a much better job in this story than others I have purchased with her reading.

Overall, it was a classic regency romance. Not one I would tell others they “have to read this book”. That being said, I didn’t dislike it and will get the next book that comes along in the series.

Narrator detracted from the story

The story itself was enjoyable but I did not care for the narrator and it was hard to stay listening to finish it. She had very odd accents for everyone and had trouble with all the men’s voices. It was disappointing.

A few good moments

Definitely not up to Sabrina Jeffries caliber,I’ve read much more enjoyable stories. The narrator isn’t at all good, her voice barely changes between characters. The idea of a business like theirs during this time period is laughable. Plus Diana and Geoffrey never really clicked for me didn’t seem romantic at all. I do love Sabrina Jeffries and have read many of her books but I’m afraid this just wasn’t up to her standards, sorry .

Regency Romance with a twist

Pretty well-done. I like that the story line is a little different from most Regency romances. It's not all about the nobility.

A Duke for Diana

Good storyline somewhat different and I loved Jeffery. The three sisters were awesome and it as fast paced.
