Publisher's summary
Guthrie, Oklahoma, 1912. Priscilla Cochran intends to prove to the world she is a grown-up woman, able to take care of herself. She accepts a job as a teacher in Dogtown, Colorado, where the man who hired her thinks she is a woman of "mature years".
Mitch Beaumont is tired of young women who come to Dogtown and leave in tears because it is not a built-up city with entertainment a young woman would want. He has finally secured a teacher for the town who has assured him she is a middle-aged spinster and will be able to last through the hard winters.
Then 20-year-old Priscilla steps off the mail coach and falls at his feet in the mud.

London, 1819. Richard, Marquess of Devon, is satisfied with his ton marriage. His wife of five months, Lady Eugenia Devon, thought she was, too, until she found the book. Their marriage is one of respect and affection, with no messy entanglements such as love. Devon's upbringing impressed upon him that gentlemen slake their baser needs on a mistress, not their gently bred wives. However, once married, he was no longer comfortable bedding a woman other than Eugenia.

Story
In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget. And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen. Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can't bury the past, and they're right.

Great Historical Romance!
When Mitch places an ad for a mature woman to teach in his small town of Dogtown, Colorado, he's expecting a comfortable middle aged woman to arrive. When 20 year old Priscilla steps off the mail coach instead, he orders her to turn right around and go back where she came from. But Priscilla is determined to make a difference for the children in the town, and won't let an overbearing man boss her around. As Mitch and Priscilla are thrown together more and more, they start to revise their first impressions of each other.
I really enjoyed this sweet romance! It's part of a series, but is written as a standalone book. It has a few slightly steamy scenes and a curse word or two. I really loved the small town setting, and the main characters were great. Both Priscilla and Mitch have to deal with their prejudice about the way they view each other and the way they view themselves. Mitch thinks Priscilla, a senator's daughter, is too good for him, and Priscilla thinks her only worth is as a teacher. They need to get to know themselves and each other better before they can have their happily ever after.
The narration was well done, the narrator had to perform accents and some sentences in French and did a great job on both. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Fun Listen
A Dogtown Christmas: An Oklahoma Lovers Book
: Callie Hutton
This is book 6 in the An Oklahoma Lovers Book series. I read the first book in the series and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I missed out on 2,3,4,and 5. I was lucky to get a hold of this book.
Priscilla wants to strike out own her own in far off Dogtown, CO away from her family in Oklahoma. She is hired to be a school teacher in a town that is just beginning to grow. Mitch Beaumont thinks he has hired a "mature" woman that will stick around. The fun starts as soon as she arrives in Dogtown. From there the preconceived ideas and stubborn personalities make for an interesting story, and some romance too! A fun short listen.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Eliza Anders.

A Dogtown Christmas
I found A Dogtown Christmas to be a nice stand-alone historical romance. Priscilla is a strong female character, which I liked. There were a few things about Mitch’s personality that I didn’t care for, but by the end, his good characteristics outweighed the not so good.
All in all, I enjoyed the story and performance.

simple endearing story
not much substance to the book, what you see is sort of what you get. Priscilla our main character is set on making it on her own and sets off on an adventure to reach her goal to become teacher.

Short and Sweet
Being from Oklahoma, I had to give this audiobook a go. I am glad I did. I truly enjoyed the story and the transition to Colorado that is different from Oklahoma winters. It was a nice slice of home and home cooking. Wrapping up in a blanket and listening to this on a cold night with a mug of something would be just the thing. The narration was well done and I enjoyed her different voices. She was easy to understand. My only complaint is (and this might have just happened in editing) the scene transitions and chapter breaks need more space between them. It switched so fast sometimes it was jarring to realize you are now in a different scene. I would add more space in the future. Just a couple of seconds. All in all, I enjoyed this audiobook. This author and narrator are new to me and I am pleased at how much I enjoyed them. The lead characters were easy to relate to. =)

She's not backing down!
I love a good historical Romance and this is a good one. It starts out quite sweet, I love the fact that the lead female literally falls at the feet of the lead male, it was a very funny moment.
Sparks flew from the moment they met each other, but it was not instant attraction on both sides, it was more instant disapproval. The characters of well-written, they feel realistic, and it was easy to connect with them.
The story is well written, it has a good flow to it, there is a good balance between action, dialogue, and slow points.
This is book 6 I think in the series, it's the first book in the series that I've read, this didn't seem to matter, I didn't feel like I was missing anything so it's safe to say you can listen to this as a standalone novel.
The narrators style works really well for this book, the delivery has a good flow to it that works well with different themes in the book and the character voices were clear and distinct and it was easy to recognize who was speaking.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Loved It
I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I enjoyed this story. The sex could have been left out but the overall story was great. I loved the interaction between two very strong characters who butted heads but came together because they both wanted what was best for the children and the town. Great story, waiting for the next one.

Another Hutton hit
"This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review." I love Callie Hutton books, and it was a wonderful surprise to receive a spin off of 'Oklahoma Run'. I fell in love with Jessie and Toni when their story was published and was delighted to receive a story about their daughter. Priscilla has graduated with a teaching certificate and applied to teach in Dogtown,Cololerado. In order to get the job she has stated that she is a mature woman with years of teaching behind her. When she arrives and meets Mitchell Beaumont, the school board representative, he accuses her of lying and demands she get back on the train and return home. The last young teacher that came, took one look at the town and cried for weeks before being sent back, so Mitch knows this one will not stay either. This is a cute story and shows the staying power and the heart of a true instructor.

The story was ok but....
I liked the idea of this story but I didn't care for Mitch. For me, he wasn't terribly likeable. As soon as he saw Priscilla, he assumed Priscilla was just going to cause problems in his town because, without even talking to her, he had already made up his mind she was going to leave the children high and dry without a teacher again. Then, shortly after that he had her in his bed, taking her virginity without a second thought as to what that would do to her. Next, he tried to push her into marrying him. Arrogant, selfish and pushy. Not a good male lead for me. Priscilla was a good character and I did like her. Her heart was in the right place and her determination to teach the children and make a better future for the people of the town was commendable. I liked that she didn't let Mitch push her around. The narration for this book was very good. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
