Publisher's summary

Welcome to a small-town Emergency Room in rural Ohio. While it's true our ER doesn't see the stabbing and gunshot action ERs see in inner cities, we have no shortage of the sad, the scary, the painful, and the just plain dumb.

With more than 20 stories, things ER workers want to say to patients, and Emergency Room bingo, A Double Dose of Dilaudid will take you on a joyride to the funnier side of the ER. See what a bored husband did to get out of a date night with his wife, find out what happens when you try to make your own meth, and hear about items men and women have inserted in their bodies.

It was actually pretty funny

There was a lot more humor than I was expecting. Kept me interested all day during my shift at work.

A DUD

I am a ED Registrar and some of this is relatable, some not. You do not discuss clinical information with the patient, that’s out of the scope of the Registrar.

feels like author can't stay on the same subject

it feels as if the story jumps around a bit the chapters aren't organized and some are too short. In chapter 48 you reference "Ambulance driver " there are 4 classifications of pre-hospital emergency medical services and they all have driving an ambulance as a job requirement. To us it's the equivalent of calling a nurse a bed pan changer. (In case you were wondering I am currently a Paramedic but every medic was an EMT at one time).

Kind of relatable

The stories are definitely relatable to the ER with some being crazy, some sad, and some completely bizarre. However, if you have an ER waiting room big enough to hold 50 people, more than 3 trama beds, and one ambulance bay you are NOT a small town.

Great stories!

I laughed out loud! People are so funny and do not realize it. I am sure that the author has many more stories also.

Nothing

I wish I didn’t waste a credit on audible for this book of second hand ER stories. Boring and unorganized.
