Classic
I remember this book so fondly from my childhood. I read this book when I was eleven or twelve and re-read it a zillion times as a teen. I stumbled upon it as an audiobook, and it brought back this treasure of a story. Great book for young teens and also enjoyed it as an adult.

Definitely on my recommended list.
This was the first book by Lois Duncan that I read when I was around 10 or 11 years old. It hooked me then and I often return to re-read it. Lois Duncan has a way of making her characters (and their stories) feel realistic. More grounded despite some of the supernatural elements. A Gift of Magic is something that I would recommend if someone's looking for a novel about an ESP youth who experienced a happier life than the main character of Carrie.

When I was 12
This was my favorite book when I was 12 years old. My copy was lost in storage for years and I recently found it; old, worn, and torn pages. It was a delight to listen to this as an adult and remember how much I loved this story. There is magic in this book, but also so many real feelings that make it heartening.
