Very Entertaining

I love time travel stories and I loved this story, too. Who can't love a wonderful knight and a fun romance! I thought this story well-written with a great variety of characters. It also was a bit humorous which I enjoyed. The setting was well-done as I could imagine what was going on and how tough times were then. I found the whole story entertaining. I am looking forward to reading more of Cynthia Luhrs' books.

A Knight to Remember

Any additional comments?

The story starts off in present day and seems to be an ordinary vacation. Until he pops the big question. Then things go terrible wrong for a while. While trying to doge a family of apparently crazy murders, Lucy must try to figure out how to live in a new time without all of our modern conveniences, while trying not to be accused of being a witch. Quite a few things to get used to..... Lucy accepts things much better than I would. I would so be looking for tea leaves, us Sothern girls love our sweet tea. But I don't think they were around in that era. I was left with a few questions at the end of the story. I hope the next books in the series answers them. Because some changes would seem to have sent ripples in the future outcome.

Great potential, poor execution

Another layer of details, greater checking of the manuscript for inconsistencies, and some actual historical research and this story would have been great. The plot is good and pace steady, but the romance just advances suddenly each step, without a real reason why being illustrated clearly.

Non-spoiler examples: Use of spices not yet available in that time period; more than six months after autumn equinox it’s winter and snowing (rather than spring); technological advances and cultural traditions not actually invented until centuries later.

A lack of research and fact checking always kills an otherwise great historical novel.

The plot was good enough that I want to listen to the next book, but the writing has me dreading listening to the flaws again.

The narrator was average. Nothing stood out as great and only one thing stood out as bad. (The same voice is used for the bad guy and the carpenter, which was confusing at times, and made the carpenter sound creepy even though he’s a nice guy.)

A sweet time travel romance!

In any time travel book, you have to start in one time, in this case the present, in order to travel to another time, frequently the past. I liked how the author laid the groundwork to set up the reason for falling through time which I found to be very entertaining. The fact that there were no explicit sex scenes kept the story moving quickly and realistically. I didn't miss the lack of sex scenes in the story, as the implied romantic interest/chemistry, between the main characters was written so well. I also bought the audio version of this book, narrated by Kristina Blackstone. I loved her "southern, North Carolina accent for Lucy, but would have preferred a bit more distinction between the male voices. She is a talented narrator, so that is just personal preference. I have enjoyed books 1&2 so am looking forward to reading book 3 as soon as possible. I would easily recommend this story to friends that enjoy sweet, time travel romances. Four stars for story, performance, and interest.

Ture Romance

The southern accent the narrator used was almost offensive to this Tennessee girl. Luckily the story kept me listening and it turned out to be a very romantic tale. So sweet.

A Knight to Remember

I enjoy this book especially without the explicit love scenes that sometimes goes to far for my taste!
