Thorne Manor has always been haunted...and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. After a family tragedy, the house was shuttered and Bronwyn was convinced that William existed only in her imagination.
Now, 20 years later Bronwyn inherits Thorne Manor. And when she returns, William is waiting.
William Thorne is no longer the boy she remembers. He’s a difficult and tempestuous man, his own life marred by tragedy and a scandal that had him retreating to self-imposed exile in his beloved moors. He’s also none too pleased with Bronwyn for abandoning him all those years ago.
As their friendship rekindles and sparks into something more, Bronwyn must also deal with ghosts in the present version of the house. Soon she realizes they are linked to William and the secret scandal that drove him back to Thorne Manor. To build a future, Bronwyn must confront the past.

Add in a few ghosts and family secrets and you get a general sense of the plot. The multiple ghosts were a bit confusing at times. But overall, this was a great novel that I enjoyed immensely.
The characters were well-developed and the plot was intriguing. The ending was quite satisfying.
The only thing I found annoying was how frequently William “chuckled“. The word was overused. The more invisible “said“, would have eliminated the distraction.
Samantha Brentmoor did a nice job with the narration.

Loved it!

This book was well written, though not perfect, but who is. I loved the premise of the story, as well as how it flowed, and kept me engaged. I do not recall any foul language, so refreshing in today's society, where books throw foul language left and right to make a point.
I am glad I went on this journey and tested a for me a new author.
The only HORRIBLE draw back to the book was all the "politically correct crap in it". I don't believe this story needed it. Also how the character in the book kept saying that the "Canadian Health System is free". NO SUCH THING! As I was saying, that was a ridiculous statement, that again did not need to be in there. I just wanted to escape into a good story.
Unexpected Enjoyment!
