ALA Alex Award, Winner

“Bridgerton fans will swoon over this entertaining romp through Britain’s Regency-era high society.”—People

"A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting is a sharp, modern, and absolutely delicious take on the marriage plot. Sophie Irwin's debut is one of the most fun, romantic books I've read in a long time. I cannot wait to see what she does next."—Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Malibu Rising

A whip-smart debut that follows the adventures of an entirely unconventional heroine who throws herself into the London Season to find a wealthy husband. But the last thing she expects is to find love…

Kitty Talbot needs a fortune. Or rather, she needs a husband who has a fortune. Left with her father’s massive debts, she has only twelve weeks to save her family from ruin.

Kitty has never been one to back down from a challenge, so she leaves home and heads toward the most dangerous battleground in all of England: the London season.

Kitty may be neither accomplished nor especially genteel—but she is utterly single-minded; imbued with cunning and ingenuity, she knows that risk is just part of the game.

The only thing she doesn’t anticipate is Lord Radcliffe. The worldly Radcliffe sees Kitty for the mercenary fortune-hunter that she really is and is determined to scotch her plans at all costs, until their parrying takes a completely different turn….

This is a frothy pleasure, full of brilliant repartee and enticing wit—one that listeners will find an irresistible delight.

Fantastic story

This is NOT a story full of sexy time with minimum plot and story. No insta love. No fixations about the characters urges or physical desires for their love interest.
This is a well thought out story that allows the listener to see characters that experience emotional conflict, confusion and growth.
For a book solidly in the Romance genera this is a very good book.
Sexy time…1 with some kissing
Violence…1 heroine has to pull a gun
Humor…3 smiles but no belly laughs also no angst

The perfect regency romance

This was a well written romance. The characters have depth. The reality for women to marry not for love nor the freedom of choice but rather out of obligation to those that can provide for their family is so unfair. However, this story has a great love story. If you like bridgerton you will love this. Its a clean romance unlike bridgerton 🥰

Cutest little love story

The narrator did an amazing job giving each character their own personality and voice. My favorite part was the banter between Kitty and Radcliffe. Enjoyed the rich vocabulary throughout.

Loved it!

If you like Jane Austin, I think you’ll like this. Unfortunately women were in such a bind during this time period, so dependent on family wealth or marriage to provide for them. There were very few alternatives…going into service for the wealthy, hard manual labor…it was a difficult time. Marriage for love was an extravagance few could achieve, and the main character was willing to forgo that in order to provide for her family. So fun to watch the process with such singleminded determination! Many obstacles to overcome and road blocks along the way. The story was never slow or dull. Great narration!

Return to Regency

Charming debut is a triumphant return to the regency romance genre with a delightful contemporary spin on our main lady’s attitude in hunting down exactly what she wants and needs beyond the ton’s limits.

Well written Romance

Fans of the Bridgerton family will delight in this story from the other side of the tracks. Impoverished women had little hope of survival outside of marriage. Love, a commodity not easily found. This story gives one hope that fairy tales may come true after all.
