About this listen

An enemy lashing out in desperation....

An alliance poised to expand....

A new fleet of ships to help them....

A covert mission to get answers....

The Dusahn Empire has been contained for the moment. But there is much work to be done in order to keep them from reasserting their dominance over the Pentaurus sector.

As much as Captain Scott wants to see the Empire destroyed, he may have no choice but to find a way to coexist with them.

The very least you can say about a Ryk Brown book is that he's not afraid to do things his way. I'm certain this won't be the last time I find myself crying over the happenings in this series, it certainly isn't the first. Darn g.d. loveable heroic characters.

Why? I love this series.

This book was quite short . I think of this as a filler that lacks some of the details we have come to love. I can only hope the next book gets back on track and we can again enjoy the author’s long view and depth of story. It is well read and preformed.

Disappointed

Not at all what I've come to enjoy from this series
seemed disjointed, fragmented and to many unanswered questions and without those answered, main character deaths that seem meaningless.
why did they go back to earth? they had been professionally careful on other missions, why did this mission go sideways from the beginning? uggg, frustrating

I like the story lines, occasional levity and character development.
Mr. Kafer is a good narrator, my only complaint is the way he drops his volume at the end of sentences making it difficult to hear and maintain continuity.

Great Stories

I really like this series but this episode didn't advance the plot. Seemed to be just a filler. Hope this doesn't continue in following books.

I love the evolution of this series, way to go, thanks for the great work. Jeff also rocks it

Another great chapter

Another first rate story, can't wait until the next book in the series. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. Jeffery Kafer is one of the best narrators hands down.

This is really episode number 29 if you combine the two series. I found it is important to read the series in order.

The book is well written. There is plenty of suspenseful action and two of the regular characters die. Both sides are in need of more and better equipment and warships. Nathan is taking his largest vessel and turning it into a ferry between Alliance planets to help trade. He discovered he needs to build the economy of the various Alliance planets so they can help pay for the war. When Brown first started this series, it was self-published through Amazon. I now noted that the audiobooks are published by Recorded Books Inc. He has come up in the world. I cannot wait for the next episode.

The book is nine hours and eleven minutes. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the series.

Captivating

As each book builds on the previous it has kept my attention throughout. Looking forward to seeing how the saga finishes

Moving towards a conclusion but still intriguing

As is a theme with many of the books in the series the third person commentary in the conversations of : .........Jim said, ......Jane replied,........Sam said with passion etc gets very tiresome and detracts from the plot.

But that is what it is and must contribute a few thousand words in a rollicking space drama that has a few books released each year.

In the text version it may not be as annoying.
