About this listen

"Fans of the series will enjoy exploring secondary characters' lives and the truly heroic compromises Tom makes to be with the woman he loves." (Library Journal)

He needed peace....

Solicitor Tom Finchley has spent his life using his devious intellect to solve the problems of others. As for his own problems, they're nothing that a bit of calculated vengeance can't remedy. But that's all over now. He's finally ready to put the past behind him and settle down to a quiet, uncomplicated life. If only he could find an equally uncomplicated woman.

She wanted adventure....

Former lady's companion Jenny Holloway has just been given a modest independence. Now, all she wants is a bit of adventure. A chance to see the world and experience life far outside the restrictive limits of Victorian England. If she can discover the fate of the missing Earl of Castleton while she's at it, so much the better.

From the gaslit streets of London to the lush tea gardens of colonial India, Jenny and Tom embark on an epic quest - and an equally epic romance. But even at the farthest edges of the British Empire, the past has a way of catching up with you....

Just ok

Drags on too long. Narrator uses a whisper voice for basically all the characters, which is annoying. I stuck it out, but this was definitely not my favorite.

The adventure of a lifetime

This amazing book seems like an adventure to fine a missing someone, but in actuality it was a journey to discover the truth on one's heart and stepping out into the unknown to get it. What a excellent audio adventure. I highly suggest and recommend

Narration a disappointment

I really enjoyed the first book of the series, but the breathy narration of this 2nd book was a disappointment.

Top author

Every now and then you get an author that no matter what you read or listen to, this author always puts out excellent work.
I list this this author in this category, I would read/listen to any of her story. She is an excellent story teller with excellent ability for the written word.
As for performance of this story, the narrator is also in the top category of talent.

Gorgeous

I chose it because of Alex and his superb narration. I did not expect an extraordinary story as the title was free, but it overwhelmed me with refreshing storyline, potent emotions, unexpected turns… I recommend it to avid readers who do not expect hot scenes but subtle, emotional drama and romance.

sloooooow burn

this story was one of the slowest burn stories i have ever read....like another reader said, too much handwringing. very interesting, the travel details, I love stories of the British empire in it's golden age.
Alex Wyndham is one of my favorite readers, but he can make the most mundane sentence sound tragic. up, up, up, down. up up up down. repeat. it can be monotonous, and because he is such a magnificent reader you can't rephrase each sentence in your head as you can with truly bad narrators. on the whole, a good book! please keep them coming!

Thoroughly LOVED This Story!!!

This story was so perfect for me. I loved the strong individuality and desire for independence by the lead lady!!! I loved that the whole story wasn’t a build up to them kissing or realizing they loved each other. There was sweet romance throughout with a a cool plot besides!! I loved that the couple was honest with each other and actually communicated their feelings. And the lead man, what a gem of a character!!! I also loved that we got to interact with the characters from the first story, rather than just have their names be mentioned. And Alex Wyndham once again, made this story for me! I’ve read quite a few 1800’s themed romances, but for me personally in my life right now, this is my favorite book!!! Thank you for creating this!!
