Christy Award winner

Jan Karon's millions of fans can't wait to sit down with her heartwarming and hilarious characters, who have a way of becoming family. In fact, readers and booksellers across the country kept Out to Canaan and At Home in Mitford on The New York Times best-seller list for months. In A New Song, Mitford's longtime Episcopal priest, Father Tim, retires. However, new challenges and adventures await when he agrees to serve as interim minister of a small church on Whitecap Island. He and his wife, Cynthia, soon find that Whitecap has its own unforgettable characters: a church organist with a mysterious past, a lovelorn bachelor placing personal ads, a mother battling paralyzing depression. They also find that Mitford is never far away when circumstances "back home" keep their phone ringing off the hook. In this fifth novel of the beloved series, fans old and new will discover that a trip to Mitford and Whitecap is twice as good for the soul.

John McDonough doesn't read this book.

I love all the Mitford books. And I really don't have a preference as to who reads, but it is shown that John McDonough is to read, but Jan Karon is actually the one reading. That might make a difference to other listeners.

My favorite series of all time

But I prefer the reading by John McDonough. He IS Father Tim.
I live in these stories when I read or listen to them, even adopting some phrases. In my opinion, these books are classics.

Read It

One of the best of the series. The musical interludes are wonderful and I enjoyed the author as narrator this time.

Great Series BUT

I didn't like the music played at the beginning and end of each chapter. Books do not have music played. Also this title says that it was narrated by John McDonough but it was in fact read by the author. I prefer John McDonough readings.

Missing important parts.

The abridged edition has many hours of missing story. In an effort to create a 5 hour listening, the editor has omitted so much of the story. This was a mistaken purchase.
