About this listen

Jan Karon's millions of fans can't wait to spend time with her heartwarming and hilarious characters, who have a way of becoming family. In fact, fans and booksellers across the country kept Out to Canaan and At Home in Mitford on The New York Times best-seller list for months. In A New Song, Mitford's longtime Episcopal priest, Father Tim, retires. However, new challenges and adventures await when he agrees to serve as interim minister of a small church on Whitecap Island. He and his wife, Cynthia, soon find that Whitecap has its own unforgettable characters: a church organist with a mysterious past, a lovelorn bachelor placing personal ads, a mother battling paralyzing depression. They also find that Mitford is never far away when circumstances "back home" keep their phone ringing off the hook. In this fifth novel of the beloved series, fans old and new will discover that a trip to Mitford and Whitecap is twice as good for the soul.

It is wonderful! This book is so inspiring. In fact, I intend to read the whole series.

Father Tim, John McDonough.... can't listen to anyone else. His baritone voice reflects what I picture, sincere, caring, often troubled but finding solace in prayer.

Great Narrator

You don't read this book, you fall into it. And the feeling it invokes is nothing short of coming home. As well performed as it is written, John McDonough and Jan Karon make the perfect pair. One wants it to go on forever.

To read it, is like coming home...

This is one I can listen to again and again.. Father Tim on the fishing trip left me in stitches. I so appreciate both Jan Karon and John McDonough. Thank you.

thoroughly enjoyable story and narration

I’ve been an enthusiastic Mitford/Karon fan for many years. Hearing John McDonough read this book brings it to life. Not just anyone could sing a a new song so sweetly. Even though I love the town of Mitford, White Cap is definitely worth the visit. In this crazy, fast-paced world in which we live, this book is soul food without being a silly fairytale. Thank you, Ms. Karon, for another treasured read.

I am married to a priest and these stories hold a special place in my heart. Jan Karon captures perfectly life in parish ministry!

A wonderful series

Jan Karon is one of my favorite authors who always delivers a believable yet uplifting story that reflects so much of conundrum of our lives. Her enduring though far from perfect characters are encouraging as they struggle with true to life hopes and fears. This is a great book to pick up when you need to escape your life for some needed refreshment.

An Entertaining Slice of Life

The Mitford series

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The story fits as comfortable as an old shoe. Between the wonderful, mellow voice of Mr McDonough, and the strong faith of the main characters, to the fascinating situations they found themselves in, 17 hours of listening was too little. I didn’t want it to end.
