About this listen
Sarah Wright woke up a few times after parties in strange places - but the morgue's a first.
At 18, she's eager for a taste of independence, moving out of state to attend college. A change of scenery is extra-needed due to a bad breakup with her boyfriend, Scott. However, soon after escaping the body cooler, she makes two startling realizations: vampires are real and she is one.
There's nothing quite like an untimely death to ruin plans. California's sunny beaches aren't the best place for vampires to chill, and worse, not only does she wind up stuck in Seattle, she's still living (figuratively) with her parents. They take the news surprisingly well - after all, it's better than burying her - even helping move her bedroom to the basement.
A disinterested sire, distraught friends, nosy Men in Black, and awestruck younger siblings complicate her adjustment to the new normal of being an immortal still subject to her parents' rules.
Being undead has its perks, but it also brings enemies. Without a copy of Fangs for Dummies, Sarah's left scrambling for answers when one such new enemy attacks her siblings and friends. If she can't figure out how to vampire, her attempt to spare her family the grief of losing her may wind up killing them.

After quitting her job as a therapist, Tess's life became pretty slow. A tad boring, even. It thus came as no small shock to her when she was chosen by a god. Suddenly thrust into a new world where magic, monsters, and character levels are par for the course, Tess will find that simply surviving can be a challenge. It doesn't help that dark forces are stirring, she's woefully underpowered, and spiders keep trying to claw her face off.

Not your typical young adult vampire story........
A Nighttime of Forever is a refreshingly different version of the young adult vampire story. If you are looking for the usual angst-ridden romance or the highly violent gore of so many of the books in this genre, the story is not for you. However, if you are looking for a fairly lighthearted version with plenty a intricate world building and equally entertaining whimsy, this is an excellent choice. I loved that the main character Sarah was essentially a normal, down-to-earth gal before being turned against her will into a vampire, and that she maintained this same overall quirky personality even after joining the ranks of the undead. Her love of and loyalty to her family was my favorite part of the story, just right above my love of her outrageously funny expressions and descriptions of each new experience in her vampire life. I am not a huge fan of the young adult genre, but I can't think of anything that I didn't enjoy about this book. There are some sexual references, both of the traditional and not so traditional variety, but it is all rather clean and definitely not the focus of the story.
Lillie Riccairdi's narration is fantastic. She has a light, almost lilting voice that perfectly matches Sarah's personality. She uses just the right tone to match every mood of the story, from exciting to humdrum and everything in between. I will definitely be looking for more books that she narrates in the future.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

trashy rationality; otherwise we'll written
This is a most excellent series, but from the start it is obvious that Sarah and her closest friends are strangely nice ish for holding such low standards of human decency and respect. From my experience with people where she lives, it is rather consistent with how people in Snohomish County actually behave. They are pretty nice and easy going people, even to strangers. They also don't have much more respect for humanity, on average, than most other places. It is hard for me to truly understand, but the Wright family is mostly believable.

Fun twist on Vampire lore.
The main character Sarah has unfortunate fate brought upon her by her crap boyfriend. I found it interesting that her character went back to her family and how they discovered what she had become. Did they embrace her or reject her? Guess you need to listen to find out. I really liked the writer's twist on how she feeds and her experiences with it. Why kill your food? The way it tastes to her was comical in a way yet genius. Who made her? Why did this happen? She does meet him. He is a loner of a sorts. There are others and they are very much different than herself. Her abilities would seem plain but they have their place in the vampire world. She still has much to learn. She seems to learn just a taste of her new abilities in book one. I found this book to be enjoyable. The Narrator did a fantastic job. I look forward to hearing more about Sarah in the next book. I highly recommend this series.

Passable
Hope that girl on the cover isn't who we are supposed to imagine the MC to look like. She is 'basic'/avg as all F. Can't really see her worthy of being killed due to a break up. Not-at-all.
As for the story... 4 books in and she is still whining over old stuff. And its on repeat. Same things she complains about she quickly thinks over and accepts, then complains about it again, then re-accept. Then goes back to complaining about it, then re-accepts, then complains, then re-accepts, then complains about it again, then re-accept. Then goes back to complaining about it, then re-accepts, then complains, then re-accepts, then complains about it again, then re-accept. Then goes back to complaining about it, then re-accepts, then complains, then re-accepts.then complains about it again, then re-accept. Then goes back to complaining about it, then re-accepts, then complains, then re-accepts.
If you are tired of re-reading that (see above), then I'm tired of her complaining about it. ACCEPT IT OR Go greet the SUN when your family dies! I don't want to hear about how much she is going to miss her family when they are gone, then talk about how being a vampire now is worth it. Every book its the same issue with that over and over and over, and over and over and over, again.
Honestly, you could probably skip to the last book of this and she will still be on the fence. SMH.
What is actually interesting is the perspective of this vampire story. An accepting family along with a mostly accepting community of supernatural. A world where our MC isn't the only vampire that see's reason, and where vampires aren't unnecessary killers out for blood.
I see there are some elements 'borrowed' from 'Vampire the Masqurade'. The names are different, but its more or less the same thing.
Gangrels = Beast
Aritimetics = Malkavian or Tremere
Fury's = Brujah's
Your Succubus = the Toreador
Nosferatu = Shadows
Etc etc etc...
Different names but the same abilities and classes.
This is okay, but not a book or series, that I will read over and over. I will most likely return this and get my credits back. (If I hear her complain about the same ish ONE MORE TIME! lol)
