Publisher's summary

Who needs a Class when you're already the strongest anyways?

Ten years ago, Amelia woke up alone and lost in a broken world where she had to fight for her survival.

Now, after reaching the pinnacle of power, defeating the Void itself, and escaping the abyss, she has finally found her way back into the real world.

But instead of returning to Earth, she arrives in the land of Vacuos. A fantasy world with magic, monsters, Classes, and Levels. A world that is governed by a System like it were a video game.

When rewarded with a Class befitting her accomplishments—to become a powerful [Hero] that will forever dedicate her life to protecting this world that is not her own—she only has one response: “Absolutely not. I’m going to live a normal life now, thank you very much.”

I dig it

I enjoyed this book. I found it entertaining even if she is OP for the area she finds herself in. Over powered protagonists are fine with me so long as the challenge can be in another area. In this case that is well flushed out and I think it really helps the character seem human.

One Punch Man goes surprisingly dark

Starts off light with a lot of the same joke, but rapidly moves on to examine topics of depression, self introspection, and identity, maintaining humor throughout.

Decent story

The story is decent, better than mediocre, but the writing needs some work. A few editing passes would correct a lot of the more egregious errors, e.g. "...easily with ease". Some descriptors were tedious, and a little sophomoric, e.g. "...the blonde girl", "...the brown haired girl". If we didn't know the characters these descriptors would be...descriptive, but continual usage makes them bland and boring, especially when used to indicate their inner thoughts, "...the blonde girl didn't understand why..." and so on. Use their names, that's why they have them.

The story is worth a read and is enjoyable, but if the author goes back and corrects the more glaring grammatical issues, it'll become great.

Great work by Mare Travathan

The story was just ok but Mare Travathan’s narration was top notch. I’m giving overall 5 stars due to the narrator

Worth a listen: Slice of life Isekai

TL/DR: I highly recommend. This is a good combination of slice of life and dramatic “heroes journey” (with some humor sprinkled in).

This was a surprisingly good book. This was an interesting twist of the litrpg/isekai genre. After years of constant fighting Amelia has grown extremely powerful but all she wants is to retire to a nice normal life.

It’s a fun contrast. Her friends are all going through the traditional “heroes journey” trying to protect the world. But meanwhile Amelia is trying to be a cook or farmer and wants to avoid the hero role.

Hijinks ensues. If you like the slice of life stories of a person just trying to build a quiet life for themselves; you will enjoy this book. Though you get a lot of the traditional litrpg dramatic battles and growing stronger when the story follows her friends. So it’s the best of both world.

The voice acting is great though one character’s voice sounded very grating to me at the very beginning. Don’t worry though, they won’t be there for long. I almost stopped listening but I’m glad I didn’t.

Great Power Fantasy!

Overall, this was a fun listen. The writer puts a great emphasis on character development and focuses on the ensemble and supporting cast around Amelia well. This litRPG is similar in scope to One Punch Man: overpowered, godlike MC with a smattering of characters facing real challenges. Amelia and her power was used sparingly and almost never used to spare her friends from their struggles and growth. At times the narrator would pause on specific class terms or such, but was great at providing a specific voice to each character.
In summary, a great story with great characters and a humorous hook.

Solid 4 star story and performance

Coming from he who fights with monsters( all 10 books) to this book. This book is better than a lot of other lit books i have tried to start, out there. Love that the main character is not disgustingly weak and there personally is super chill and not super needy. Good series to listen to while your waiting for the next he who fights with monsters book to come out
