Corrupted.
This is the word that has defined Yu since her infancy. Her God Sign is corrupted and so she is a cultivator without cultivation. Frail and sickly, Yu is the only descendant of her mighty warrior lineage to live without strength, without purpose. She is a stain on the honor of her family, an embarrassment to her prestigious clan.
Hidden away, Yu comes to live with the constant scorn and ridicule of her peers. She is bullied, beaten, and bloodied. But she is never broken.
She dreams of one day proving herself worthy.
Defying her father’s wishes, Yu trains with her twin Jian swords, using her flawless memory to perfect their complex forms. Working in secret, she builds her martial skills to a level unheard of for her young age. But her skills mean little without cultivation.
Until she is given a chance—a chance to be reborn.

Emily woo Zeller does good as always, she's one of the best female narrators there is, all of her voices are different. She can do tons of accents, and her voice is quite soothing. overall I think her narration skills are a 5 star and I also think she performed this book very well. I do have one reservation though, it's the voice for the Mc. I feel likes it's just way to high pitched and shy, it just feels annoying. Not to the point where I'm just completely mad over it, but her voice is really annoying. I don't know if others share the same opinion as me... but other than that, the performance is good, great even.
Now let's talk about the characters, I think that there written really well. I feel most of them have depth and good personalities, I do feel like some characters irked me, but not to much. there is actually something I want to talk about dealing with the Mc, I think she's written well, and personally I like her, but I do have some complaints. She whines and crys entirely to much, I get she's broken from what happened to her but some of the book just feels like a pity party. It's like whenever something big happens whether good or bad she's just crying. I honestly really didn't like this about the mc, and hopefully it's changed in book 2. there is also something else I don't really understand. it's her undying loyalty to her clan, it just doesn't make sense to me. she was beat by her clan, shunned by her clan. Doesn't she get if she didn't have the power she has they'd still be beating her? Even when it comes to her parents im still kinda mad. they don't give her any choices in affairs that involve her and she does nothing about it. I just think she's traumatized and can't understand she doesn't owe her clan anything, sure they provided food and other things, but she was treated badly while that was being provided. I honestly just don't understand, and it's quite irking to think about.
That might seem like alot, but it really isn't. I actually like the mc, and I also think she grew as a person in this book, I also think this book 1 was like a Introduction of whats to come.
Now let's talk about the plot, This is actually written very well, I think alot of stuff happened in this book and it was very interesting. I was very entertained when listening to this, it just kept on getting better and better. I rate the plot a 4.7 star.
Now let's talk about the world building, I also like this. I really like how the world is built, it also has its fair amount of detail. the cultivation system also is very good, I think it's a very enjoyable part of this book, I also think she grew alot, and I can't wait to see how much more she grows. I rate the world building a 5 star.
Now let's talk about the action, I love it. it's detailed, and the combat is just so good. I can't wait to hear more of it. the fighting is so enjoyable and entertaining.
I rate the action a 5 star.
I really liked this book, I actually recommend this book to anyone who likes cultivation books. it has a good narrator, and alot of other stuff. I think it has it's flaws, it also has it pros too though. I honestly can't wait to hear book 2.
Great cultivation book
