About this listen

In the opulent and perilous world of high society’s most elite—and most dangerous—families, two investigators must set aside their broken hearts to uncover the truth.

Gemma Parks is known to the London elite as G. M. Parker, a columnist renowned for her commentary on the cream of society. Behind the scenes, she uses her talents to aid the Imposters in their investigations by gathering intel at events and providing alibis for the firm’s members through her columns. Yet her clandestine work would be more exhilarating if it weren’t for the constant presence of the gentleman who broke her heart.

Graham Wharton has never had eyes for anyone but Gemma, and she left his heart in tatters when she walked away from him. When the Imposters take on a new job to recover a kidnapped boy mistaken for his aristocratic cousin, Graham is determined to use the time with Gemma to not only restore the missing boy, but to also win back the only woman he’s ever loved. As they trace the clues laid out before them, Graham and Gemma must devise a noble scheme to save the boy’s life and heal their hearts.

Trigger warning

I really don’t want to give anything away, but for anyone who needs a trigger warning, this book addresses child loss.
The author did a good job and I will listen to this book again, more prepared for the storyline.

A masterpiece of a book!

We loved the book the most once we knew the full story between the two main characters. Once we knew their story, it all became incredibly meaningful. The loss of a baby is overwhelming to the parents, but the authors portrayal of how they worked it out deep and incredibly thoughtful. We love her expressions of faith and trust in God. She paints a beautiful picture of the necessity of forgiveness, understanding, and trust. This book is a masterpiece. We just love all of Rosanna White’s books. She is the superior author!

Modern Troubles

I liked that the story relates to issues that all of us may face in our lives. The ability to forgive is an important part of good mental health.

Beautiful story of forgiveness and second chances

This is now my favorite of Roseanna M. White’s books. It’s so well written and has such a powerful message of love and forgiveness, both human and God’s, in addition to the mystery and intrigue of The Imposters’ current case. And the narration is superb.

Even Better Than the 1st Book

I loved “A Beautiful Disguise” and have read it multiple times. That being said, I thought “A Noble Scheme” was even better. The layers of depth to both the story and the characters were compelling. I wanted to rush to the end to see how everything would turn out and, at the same time, wanted the book to last longer so I could savor it. Gemma and Graham were both more complex than I expected going in and I loved, loved, loved that the author worked through their issues and relationship throughout the whole book instead it being 3/4 of controversy and then resolution out of nowhere at the very end. This played out much more true to real life. I also love the way that many of Roseanna M. White’s characters reason with themselves internally and often talk sense into themselves rather than needing an outside source to do so —— I find this to be a more mature depiction than we usually get in this genre of books.

I thoroughly enjoy Susan Lyons as a narrator. I know she’s not for everyone and she doesn’t necessarily show the range of emotion/accents/etc that other narrators do from a performance perspective. However, I find the timbre of her voice soothing and her accent lovely.

Basically, do yourself a favor and buy this audiobook. You won’t regret it!

Unique, Lovely

A beautifully written story of loss, bitterness turned into forgiveness, faithfulness and fidelity leading to reconciliation, with God at the heart of the matter.

Excellent investigations!

I’m loving this “Imposters” series! You really should read them in order if possible. There is suspense, light romance, and intriguing investigations blended together with faith! I really enjoyed it! The narrator is British and I enjoyed her narration.

Well written but sad

I found the book very sad and painfully drawn out in the expressions of painful grief. I thought the book could have been condensed by a couple of hours.

Hang in through the first couple chapters.

I will admit, I was getting a little irritated with Gemma because she has so much hate towards Graham, but you don’t know why. That covers the first several chapters but then things start coming to light.

If you can hold on through those first several chapters, as always, the author provides a beautiful story ofpain, sorrow, love and redemption.

I am amazed at the authors ability to bring God into her stories that show his healing touch to the characters, but also it speaks to the reader/listener as well.

I am hoping that a third imposters book is on its way. I’m thinking maybe and Gemma’s new friend would make a very nice couple. 🤗
