About this listen

A fast-paced, witty, and delightful new mystery about a marriage proposal planner whose biggest job yet is threatened by a dead body (or two).

Jessamine Bricker loves a plan. Contingency plans and pros-and-cons lists are her love language, and because of that, her proposal planning business is thriving. But with rent costs rising at her office building, Jess jumps at the chance to plan a proposal between her snobby high school classmate, Diana, and her very wealthy boyfriend, Trenton Tillard…the Fourth.

Roped into joining Diana’s ”pre-bridal” retreat at the exclusive Golden Ash resort, Jess hopes to fade into the background, get some work done, and maybe find some time to unwind. Their first day is anything but relaxing: Diana is furious about the mountain spa’s lack of cell phone reception, the couple next door argues constantly, and Jess swears she just saw a drug deal go down. To top it all off, she’s warned to stay out of the woods by the gruff and sexy chef, Dean Osbourne. Is this a retreat or a horror movie?

As Jess tries to do her job while placating the bride-to-be and her increasingly over-the-top demands, she spends more and more time with the resort owners, finding herself much more in tune with the laid-back Osbourne family than her social climbing “boss.” Between a meditation garden-related drowning and Jess’s discovery of a body in a sauna, it's clear that deadly secrets abound at the Golden Ash. Now it’s up to Jess to unravel the mysteries here in the mountains—before all her plans are cancelled…permanently.

Critic reviews

"Molly Harper serves up a smart, hilarious mystery in A Proposal to Die For, complete with a remote and luxurious setting and a sexy romance. Pitch-perfect banter and compelling twists will keep readers turning the pages as Harper (gently) pokes fun at the wedding industry without sacrificing charm or heart."—Tirzah Price, USA TODAY Bestselling Author of In Want of a Suspect

"A Proposal to Die For is a fun, enticing union of murder, mayhem, and mindfulness. A spa retreat is anything but relaxing when a proposal planner starts to trip over dead bodies...and it turns downright anxiety-producing when she is the one marked for murder. Go ahead, say YES to A Proposal to Die For!"—Juliet Blackwell, New York Times Bestselling Author of Asylum Hotel

“Everything I love in a Molly Harper story—quick wit, strong characters, laugh-out-loud moments—with a little murder mixed in. This was a delight from start to finish. I want a dozen more books just like this!”—Kristen Simmons, Bram Stoker Award nominee and author of Find Him Where You Left Him Dead

After the thrilling experience of reading this book, I'm eagerly hoping for more murder mysteries from Molly Harper. Her ability to keep readers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns is truly remarkable!
The only downside to this book is that you can only experience it for the first time ONCE! Every chapter was a joy; it kept me on the edge of my seat. I devoured it in print, on Kindle, and on audiobook, relishing every moment!
Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi do it again! Their seamless collaboration, where Harper's gripping narrative is brought to life by Ronconi's engaging narration, is a testament to their success!

SO MUCH FUN!

As always Amanda Robbin’s performance is amazing. So many characters and each identifiable. Molly Harper is positively one of my favorite authors. This book was funny and quirky with murders at an exclusive spa…I am rereading again tomorrow. Thank you!

A New Favorite!

I love all Molly Harpers books - but this one was a particularly fun listen. Amanda Ronconi's narration never disappoints

One of My Favorites!

This book was just okay. I love Molly's other books, especially the Halfmoon Hollow Series. This book lacked the snark and humor of her other books. It was hard to get invested in the characters in this book. The plot was far fetched for a realistic fiction story, as well. I gave it 4 stars because the narration was excellent and I overall like Molly Harper's books in general. This book just fell short of what I've come expect from her books.

Not Molly Harper's Best

I read (or listen to) ANYTHING that Molly Harper writes. She as the author and Amanda Ranconi as the narrator are a tough team to beat. Having said that, this particular book was even a step ahead of the usual. Her characters are lovable (or hate-able in some cases), and that's a good thing, because it's tough to love a book if you don't get involved with the characters. But this book was also a very finely-woven mystery/suspense. I hope she writes more in this setting, and I highly recommend them!

I loved this book!
