Super story and narration

The story itself held my interest, and it was nice to revisit the characters from Book one. Character development is excellent. I’m looking forward to the next!

Good series; shocking aspects

I really like this series. Wish that there were 7 more books to listen to. The “mystery of who done it” is not easily guessed and it is fun to discover clues along the way. The setting is so comfortable that I want to go for visit and stay at the hotel. This is my second listen and I do believe that it is not necessary to listen to the books in order. Enough historical knowledge is provided through the conversations of the characters. Adam, Imogen and Harley are the stars. The supporting cast of hotel employees, neighbors, bar patrons, shoppe keeper, etc. enrich the story and help move it along. The description of characters really help the listener visualize in their mind what each character looks like. The narrator does a pretty good job of distinguishing voices. However, in this time of political correctness and respect for diversity, I am shocked at the voices used for the Asian woman and the woman from Romania. Their characterization comes off as cartoonish and laughable if not disgusting. Where are the editors? Certainly, a more ethnically and racial diverse work force is needed at Audible. It shows a lack of sensitivity and respect of others who are culturally different. Perhaps this is acceptable in England but certainly not in today’s US.

Cozy and Satisfying

I am enjoying this author! If you like cozy mysteries, you will enjoy Frances Evesham’s books. I can’t wait for the next Ham Hill mystery. Guess I’ll have to wait until 2022. I love all of the characters, but I’m especially in love with Harley. Who can resist his big brown eyes?! Smiles. Thank you, Frances, for writing cozy mysteries with a twist.

Very Good

This was very good, but it did drag in some places where I think more action could have taken place. But I enjoyed it very much and am now going to read Book 3. The characters are delightful!

No swearing or sex scenes, but there was romance. Which is very good!

Another wholesome village mystery

This was an easy listen. Fairly wholesome, but interesting story. The one drawback was the unfortunate and cringe inducing Asian accent portrayed by the narrator.

Captivating

I have enjoyed the story. The characters were just as likeable, with good plot at a good pace. I do agree with a previous reviewer regarding the narrator’s voice of an Asian character’s accent though - it just sounds too stereotype. However, the narrator did a good job in all others. I look forward to more books in this series.

Loved the book!

Enjoyed the story and characters immensely. The narrator really brought the story to life with her interpretation of each character. Recommend it highly.
