About this listen

An English village can be deadly, when your past catches up with you....

In the beautiful rural Somerset village of Lower Hembrow, crammed full with English eccentrics, something is amiss....

Landscape gardener Imogen Bishop has spent the last 30 years trying to forget one fateful school night but when her estranged husband Greg Bishop is found dead in the grounds of her father's Georgian hotel, danger threatens to overwhelm her.

Retired police officer Adam Hennessey, hoping for a peaceful life running his traditional Somerset country pub, finds himself drawn into the unfolding drama in the hotel across the road.

Imogen, Adam and Harley the stray dog form an unlikely partnership as they try to untangle a knot of secrets, solve a murder mystery and bring a killer to justice.

I have always loved a great English mystery. They can say the darndest thing and sound so civilized. I have always enjoyed their sense of humor. This book is full of both. I think anyone who enjoys a mystery will enjoy this book.

Exceptional mystery!!!

The plot of this book had me thinking and rethinking The Who done it.

The characters were well developed and seemed realistic.

Ms. Stevens did a great job with the narration but there were intermittent clicks in the recording.

Good Listen

i enjoyed this book. I liked Adam Hennessey as the steadfast, semi- reluctant retired detective who made room alongsude his retrement dreams to do the right thing. A rel-
ative newcomer to the community, he was drawn into helping to solve a trilogy of murders that may have never been connected if not for his particular set of skills. I hope to see more of him.

it's kind of tangled and it moves kind of slow. the mystery is okay but by the end I had lost interest. never cared much for the lady, too perfect but shy.

I loved this fast paced British murder / mystery cozy. The tone, pace, setting blend together and add so much to the story. I liked the characters and look forward to book #2.

British Cozy

I was expecting a cozy but bland story and was very surprised by this beautifully written, engaging mystery. The narrator was excellent too! This was my first Frances Evesham book and now I’m hooked!!

Surprisingly good!!

This turned out to be a very nice listen. The last minute twist was plausible thou quite unexpected. It has a good bases for a series.
