Publisher's summary

What would you do with an enchanted kingdom of living puppets? Would you look for adventures, or enjoy the sights of a stranger-than-strange land? Would you rest and make friends in this one safe place, or build new wonders for the next child who needs a refuge?

Would you rule?

Would you smash your toys, because the outside world hurts?

Two girls have come to the land of Here and There, and a little doll named Heartfelt was the first to meet them both. Sandy wants to heal and create, but doubts herself. Heartfelt has to help her believe, because Charity has no doubts at all. In the process, maybe she'll ask the question no one else has - what do dolls want?

loved it

fantastic. the odd pauses from the narrator take a minute to get used to, then the care and personality shine through these broken toys and people.

A sweet world with a horrifying toyicide

A pair of children find their way into a land of living toys where one of the children becomes a brutal tyrant who burns and destroys whichever toys offend her while the other is, well, not a horrible psychopath. A surprisingly dark story among all the beautiful cheerful Oz-like environments. This story is better listened to on audiobook than read. It's a bit on the cutesy side but I think that's obvious if you look at the cover. Those poor toys! It was like it opened with Lotsahuggins murdering everyone but Woody!

A Doll's Tale w/ a Scary Twist

It's one of those -things look too good to be true- stories with human children finding their way into a world of living dolls. This is written for, I would say, the older elementary to middle grade readers (4th and up) but it's also geared towards girls that like fantasy with an edge. My 4th grader (boy) thought it was a bit "too cutesy" even with the dark side of it. The narrator fits the story and does a great job with it.

Cute kid's fantasy adventure!

A Rag Doll's Guide to Here and There

This is a book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is a book for kids and it is very imaginative. Lots of different dolls, animals dolls, cute dialogue, and situations. Two girls at different times go to this magical land of Here and There. They certainly have different personalities. This is an enchanted land with quite the strangest population! It is an interesting read and maybe younger listeners would give it a higher star rating. I found it an okay read.
The narration was fine for a children's book.
