About this listen
Ninety years ago, Millie Sullivan's great-grandmother was a guest at oil tycoon Howard Dawkins' palatial estate on the shore of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Now, Millie plays a 1920s-era guest during tours of the same manor. But when her grandmother suggests there is a lost diary containing the location of a hidden treasure on the estate, along with the true identity of Millie's great-grandfather, Millie sets out to find the truth of her heritage - and the fortune that might be hers.
When security guard Ben Thornton discovers her snooping in the estate's private library, he threatens to have her fired. But her story seems almost too ludicrous to be fiction, and her offer to split the treasure is too tempting to pass up....
Get ready for a romantic escapade through dark halls and dusty corners that will have you holding your breath and sighing with delight as two charming characters get caught up in the adventure of uncovering the past and finding their way to an unexpected future.

Story
Fashion is a fickle industry, a frightening fact for 24-year-old model Ivy Clark. Ten years in and she’s learned a sacred truth - appearance is everything. Nobody cares about her broken past as long as she looks beautiful for the camera. This is the only life Ivy knows - so when it starts to unravel, she’ll do anything to hold on. Even if that means moving to the quaint island town of Greenbrier, South Carolina, to be the new face of her stepmother’s bridal wear line - an irony too rich for words, since Ivy is far from the pure bride in white.

I may not understand why people get married, but I’d go anywhere for my brother, even his friend Camille’s wedding. Once I’m there, I realize our Bronx upbringing has left me unprepared for the world of old Southern money. Over 24 hours, I see scandal, threats, and lies. It’s a life I don’t relate to, a place I never want to belong. Even so, when the minister asks if anyone objects, I shock not only myself but also the beautiful bride when I stand up.

16-year-old Mara Westray has just lost her mother, and now, being shipped off to live with the father she doesn’t know is not how she imagined grieving. She's already counting down the days until she turns 18 and can leave the tiny island of Swans Landing. But from the moment she steps off the ferry, nothing is as ordinary as it looks. As she tries to unravel the events that led to her mom fleeing the island 16 years ago, Mara finds that the biggest secret of all is only the beginning.

Story
An arranged marriage isn’t the worst fate for a princess like me. Especially because I’ve been in love with my intended groom since we were children. But when my prince shows up with an American girlfriend instead of an engagement ring, all arrangements are off. The clock is nearing midnight; I won’t turn into a pumpkin, but if I’m not wed by summer’s end, I’ll forfeit my kingdom. Just your typical royal dilemma. Out of sheer desperation, I make a deal with a devilish duke. Rafe de Silva is the prince’s rival and has a plan so ridiculous it just might work.

A Sparkling Ending
I have to be honest, it took me a while to get into this story. But once I did, I was fully invested and finished without stopping.
Millie and Ben are on such an adventure, trying to solve the mystery of Great Grandma Ruth's journal and find the hidden treasure. Each has their own reason why they need money though they are very reluctant to talk about it.
I loved how Millie talked to herself, to the point of the voice in her head taking over and arguing with her. (I can relate)
I liked how Grandma Joy gave such great advice on her more lucid days. Dementia is different for everyone, I think the author portrays this very well.
The romance between Millie and Ben came as a surprise to them. It was very sweet.
No spoilers, but I must say that I loved the conclusion.
The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life.

Sweet, heartwarming story of past meets present!
A sweet and heartwarming romantic story centered upon family legacies that are so much more than expected, more than the mistakes and regret of the past and present, and about forgiveness and mercy for those who have wronged us—all told amid the charming Georgia coastline in the shadow of a historic chateau.
