Publisher's summary
David Bennett came out to his parents as gay when he was 14 and entered Sydney's active gay community a few years later. In A War of Loves, he shares his growing desire as a gay rights activist to see justice for LGBTQI people, his journey through new age religions and French existentialism, and his university years as a postmodernist - before Jesus Christ showed up in his life in a highly unexpected way, leading him down a path he never would have imagined or predicted.
David had believed he was disqualified from God's love until he encountered that for himself in Jesus Christ. In A War of Loves, he recounts his dramatic story, investigates what the Bible teaches about sexuality, and above all demonstrates the profligate, unqualified grace of God.

Story
As a young Christian man, Matthew Vines harbored the same basic hopes of most young people: to someday share his life with someone, to build a family of his own, to give and receive love. But when he realized he was gay, those hopes were called into question. The Bible, he’d been taught, condemned gay relationships. Feeling the tension between his understanding of the Bible and the reality of his same-sex orientation, Vines devoted years of intensive research into what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Andy Bannister struggled with that question himself. As a twentysomething, he operated as an Undercover Christian at his job. He knew it didn’t make sense, and he spent the following decades helping countless people find easy, natural ways to talk about the fundamental questions of life with the ones they love.

Story
American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

Women were there. For centuries, discussions of early Christianity have focused on male leaders in the church. But there is ample evidence right in the New Testament that women were actively involved in ministry, at the frontier of the gospel mission, and as respected leaders. Nijay Gupta calls us to bring these women out of the shadows by shining light on their many inspiring contributions to the planting, growth, and health of the first Christian churches.

Story
As a teenager and young man, Justin Lee felt deeply torn. Nicknamed "God Boy" by his peers, he knew that he was called to a life in the evangelical Christian ministry. But Lee harbored a secret: He also knew that he was gay. In this groundbreaking book, Lee recalls the events - his coming out to his parents, his experiences with the "ex-gay" movement, and his in-depth study of the Bible - that led him, eventually, to self-acceptance. But more than just a memoir, Torn provides insightful, practical guidance for all committed Christians who wonder how to relate to gay friends or family members - or who struggle with their own sexuality.

Story
In Prototype, Jonathan Martin creates a vivid understanding of what it means to be God's beloved. To completely trust, as Jesus did, that God loves us. To live without fear, confident in our identity and purpose. To handle life's wounds as Jesus did, and to wake every day with a deep awareness of God's presence. Martin reveals a startling truth at the heart of the gospel: Jesus is our prototype. And as we discover how the knowledge of being God's beloved changed everything for Jesus - how it set Him free to live out His purpose and love God, others, and the world - it will begin to do the same for us.

What's hiding in your heart? Deep down, every woman longs to feel loved and secure. We may think we look to God for these things, but in reality we often run to food, Facebook, or friendship first. Worshipping God’s gifts is idolatry. And idolatry destroys intimacy with God and steals our joy. In this audiobook, author Dee Brestin brings unfailing principles and vivid testimonies - from Scripture, her own life, and the lives of women who have tested these truths and are excited to tell about their transformations.

What is it that you long for? Dream about? Hunger after? We all desire more than just the endurance of our daily routines. But often we feel limited and stuck - like we're merely existing instead of living. That's not the way it was meant to be. God intends the humanity in each of us to be deeply experienced, lavishly enjoyed, and exuberantly celebrated. In fact this is what the Gospel is all about. Yes, the Gospel.

Story
When was the last time you were overawed by God’s majesty? Have you ever stood in stunned silence at his holiness and power? In our shallow, self-centered age, things like truth and reverence might seem outdated, lost. Yet we’re restless. And our failed attempts to ease our unrest point to an ancient ache for an experience of the holy. Drew Dyck makes a compelling case that what we seek awaits us in the untamed God of Scripture - a God who is dangerous yet accessible, mysterious yet powerfully present.

Is real friendship too risky? We live in a world where real friendship is hard to find. Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we retreat into the safety of our small, self-made digital worlds. Tragically, even the church can become a place that reinforces this isolation. Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. Scott Sauls, pastor and teacher, invites you to see the breadth of Christ's love in this audiobook, Befriend.

But when he realized he was gay, those hopes were called into question. The Bible, he’d been taught, condemned gay relationships. Feeling the tension between his understanding of the Bible and the reality of his same-sex orientation, Vines devoted years of intensive research into what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Story
We live in a culture that wants it all. More is seen as better. For those chasing this way of life, “narrow” seems negative. Who wants to narrow their options . . . or be seen as narrow-minded? Which is why the most well-known talk in the history of the world—the Sermon on the Mount—is also the most paradoxical one. In it, Jesus holds up the narrow path as the most spacious . . . and the broader path as the more confining one. Rich Villodas, bestselling author of The Deeply Formed Life, explores what today’s broad and narrow paths look like so you can discern which one you’re on.

For such a time as this!
This book is a must read for all who seek to understand a True Biblical understanding of sexuality. David’s loving and humble pursuit of holiness explains The Heart of the Gospel to all who seek to love like Jesus in our self destructing culture. It is a powerful plea not only to those struggling with same sex attraction, but to the Church of Jesus Christ to take up our own crosses, repent of our own idolatry and live out our real identities as Redeemed and Transformed Followers of Christ!

Very Insightful
The book W War of Loves is absolutely amazing!! David’s clear, vulnerable, and open account of everything he thought and felt as he navigates through the ups and downs of trying to live for Christ, is something everyone should read!! I’ve never struggled with homosexuality but as a Christian, this helped me capture some beautiful questions to forward other Christians to really challenge them in their thinking. I’ve always had a heart for the ones cast aside and always felt a pull from God to speak up for them...and this has so much insight that I feel even more confident and led to not be afraid to have conversations about this topic when it comes to loving people like Jesus. Seriously people, I don’t care who you are or where you stand, read this book!!!!!!!

An uncommon but much needed perspective
This book gets to the heart of a debate that is all too common in society today. The authors first hand perspective lends a genuine empathy to the plights of many gay Christians and pursues an honest, open, and transparent point of view in an effort to display the love of Christ even through a struggle that causes an individual to question everything they’ve ever known about themselves. Ultimately, this book shows that the love of Christ is worth giving up everything, even if it means letting go of what we think makes us who we are and taking on a new identity in Jesus Christ.

Adding this to my home school curriculum
we will be adding this to our homeschool curriculum. thank you for a concise and clear view of what a true acceptance of gay celibate Christian both endures and finds joy in within the body of Christ. Because of your very important work, many brothers and sisters will feel the love of the body instead of the rejection. I hope my children's generation will do a better job of loving those marginalized by the church than my generation has.
