About this listen

Christians who are confused by the homosexuality debate raging in the US are looking for resources that are based solidly on a deep study of what Scripture says about the issue. In People to Be Loved, Preston Sprinkle challenges those on all sides of the debate to consider what the Bible says and how we should approach the topic of homosexuality in light of it.

In a manner that appeals to a scholarly and lay-audience alike, Preston takes on difficult questions such as how should the church treat people struggling with same-sex attraction? Is same-sex attraction a product of biological or societal factors or both? How should the church think about larger cultural issues, such as gay marriage and gay pride? How (or if) Christians should do business with LGBT persons and supportive companies?

Simply saying that the Bible condemns homosexuality is not accurate, nor is it enough to end the debate. Those holding a traditional view still struggle to reconcile the Bible's prohibition of same-sex attraction with the message of radical, unconditional grace. This book meets that need.

Fabulous.

Every affirming and non affirming Christian should read this book in order to have intelligent and respectful conversations about this difficult subject matter. Any conclusion on the subject without thoroughly investigating both sides from a respectful platform (such as this one) negates your opinion as far as I’m concerned.

Excellent, helpful book

This author is compassionate, relational, and has a real heart for Jesus and for people. I appreciated how thorough he was in looking at what the Bible has to say about homosexual behavior, and about how to love people in all their complex variety.

Thoughtful, scholarly, loving & well-written!

I cringe when Christians talk about this issue, though I am a believer myself. It is handled so poorly so often and I find myself unable to breathe fully until the topic is changed. But this book is nothing like what I have read before. This is the balanced and loving book the church has needed!

Don't go read this if all you want is a weapon because you will be disappointed. But if you seek to understand the viewpoints of the ones you love AND the Scripture and love both God and your fellow humans, then you will appreciate the careful handling of a loaded and deeply painful topic.

A MUST read for EVERY Christian

Preston Sprinkle has a wonderful heart, a desire for the Truth, and a great intelligence for study. His in-depth look at homosexuality in the Bible is DEEP and he carefully looks at all sides. He also looks at the person—the image-bearer of God. We are ALL created in the image of God; we are ALL sinners in need of the saving grace of Jesus! We as the Church have fallen short and have not followed Jesus in this matter. I am so grateful that Preston wrote this book. The narrator was great, but would have loved to hear Preston himself read it.

Helpful

Preston’s analysis of scripture is helpful and insightful. His kind-hearted perspective is refreshing, but also a call to compassion. I’ll be gifting this book to several friends because it’s such a great resource

Compassion For Taxcollecters

Sprinkle does an excellent job presenting well researched, interviewed and thought provoking work on how best as Christians to love and listen to those who struggle with homosexual attractions, while at the same time understanding and believing what the Bible has to say on the matter. These people are not to be outcasts of the Church, but should be loved, understood, heard, and ultimately brought to Jesus whose job it is to convict and correct. This is not an easy task, but Sprinkle did a great job on presenting a Biblical perspective. Great work!
