About this listen

"Watch over my baby."

As the mother of a newborn, Suzy Burris is accustomed to sleepless nights. But tonight, she's waiting up for her husband, Peter, to tell him she wants a divorce. Instead, she learns he's been murdered. And the sexy detective who's just delivered the shocking news is asking questions indicating she's a suspect.

When Detective Nick Jeffries left Houston for the sleepy town of Vengeance, Texas, he hoped to leave behind the city's grisly homicides. The latest triple murder to hit his desk nixes that idea. Being attracted to the widow of one of the victims is the last thing he needs. But when Suzy and her baby are threatened, he'll risk all to keep them from a killer's crosshairs….

This would have easily been a five star read. Except at the beginning a professer Who seemingly has nothing to do with the story goes missing and when the book and she is still missing. Not to mention I see no follow up book to resolve the professors abduction.

Huge cliffhanger!

The narrator’s performance was all but Monotone. The male and female voice were indistinguishable. I stopped listening multiple times, but made myself finish the book.

first book I've read by this author and probably the last. so many things in the story did not make sense and nothing was really explained about on going investigation. pretty confusing to figure out what the heck was going on. introduce characters who never show up again in the book. and a woman who lost her husband wouldn't be hanging around all day answering questions, nor would a mom whose child is missing want to take time out for love scene with someone.

not everything made sense
