About this listen

Publicly humiliated, Marisa Banks is blindsided by the news that the man she's been dating for months is married.

Being called names she wouldn't wish on anyone in front of a room full of people by her boyfriend's wife is enough to shake her identity to its foundations. In an attempt to rebuild, she makes a few questionable decisions.

Asher Blaine is one of them. He's intelligent and sexy, but the pedestal he's got himself up on is unshakeable. Or so he thinks. Marisa asks for the one thing he can't deny her, even if it's the craziest thing he's ever done.

She wants one night, his best eight hours. And damn if he doesn't deliver. The next morning, her bubble is shattered by his loud mouth, and Marisa retaliates with a stiletto and a remote. The best night of her life is over, and she's more than happy to walk away a free woman.

Asher's job sends him to Marisa's city, and when they cross paths again, it's Asher's turn to make an offer. And just like him, she can't refuse.

Will her worst nightmare and his complicated past ruin what they're building, or can they lean on one another to make it through?

I LOVED the story. However, the female narrator didn’t portray a black girl well at all. She didn’t embody the sound, tone, feel, & attitude of a black woman. I couldn’t get lost in the story because of it. I had to keep reminding myself the female character wasn’t Caucasian.
Other than that it was great.

The story was great but the female narrator didn’t give me black girl

I loved how things developed and the way the two main characters grew together. there was a beautiful depth there. I loathed the overuse of exasperated sigh in all of the books this series contained. the female readers voice was good until she voiced other characters then it was cringe and took away from the story a bit.

the story was beautifully written

The female narrator though... she mispronounces many words (barely is barley, for example) but what made it difficult to deal with her was her voices! They didn't match the people... everybody had a "I'm a high hippy from California" voice and accent... even the people from Galveston, TX?! Asher's voice is described as a deep baritone but she gives him a nasally feminine vibe. She did give every character a distinct voice of their own but the voices were... annoying and disappointing. This only highlighted all her pronunciation mistakes. The story was still good and kept you engaged the entire time.

Nice Story but...

Wow!! If this book was food then I devoured every delicious bite! I adore Lotus and her fire! I wept for her, got chills when she yelled hopscotch, and audibly cheered when Reese was finally handled. I want to go to her yoga studio and hang out with her. Asher has ruined me! He’s number ONE of my book boyfriends! He was so well written that I was hooked on every word. I nodded when he spoke because I understood him and his love for Lotus. The book cover is what a girl likes. I’d glance at him here and there. I wish there were 119 more chapters. Ending it, I miss the characters. I’m reading out of order as I’ve learned there are companion books. I am having a hard time believing that there’s any male character as delicious as Asher but we’ll see.
Bravo and Encore!!!

Swooning all throughout!! Asher!!

This book was the best of the entire series. I kept you locked in from the beginning to the end. Great job author and narrators.

I enjoyed this love story and loved the characters and there was some comedy! The male narrator Winston James was great as always. He brings emotion to his characters, he does a good female voice and he does a good kid voice. His one negative is you hear him swallow. You think he has alot of spit in his mouth but his speech is always clear and on point when he reads. Other than that he is a favorite narrator for me. Now the female narrators voice did not fit this book. When she did the male voice or voice of her female friends it was terrible but she does read well I juar didnt like her for this book.

Really good book

I am loving this series, each book makes me love the characters more! I have seen some comments that the female voice actor was not good or not ethnic enough but I actually enjoyed her performance based on the depth of the writing. The male voice actor, as always, awesome! Please keep this series alive!

I enjoyed the Rise & Fall Series. Harlow and Acyn remain my favorite storylines of course. A Worthy Love wasn’t bad. I do feel like Reese’s part in the story was drawn out way more than it had to be at times, and redundant.

This is my first audiobook listening to Nikko. Her voice is fine for her main character of Marissa, but her portrayal of the men’s voices, especially as Asher was very unappealing. The harsh rasp in the voice was not a good choice in my opinion; it was very hard to listen to her portray his parts while she was narrating. Again, her voice as Marissa was fine, but her strength is not portraying male tones.

Thanks for a good series to read!!
