About this listen

Aurora Halle McPhee, a girl of humble (some might say unconventional) background, cannot believe her luck when she is betrothed to the dashing, well-bred Harland Podell. Aurora soon learns, however, that the match is too good to be true when the nuptials are interrupted by the brother of the groom's wife!

Kenyon Warriner, Earl of Windham, is determined to foil that bigamous bounder Podell before he disgraces another innocent female as he did Kenyon's own sister. The earl will save Miss McPhee's honor. Even if he must wed her himself...

Lots of laughs

Even though all the requisite elements of a romance are present , they are delivered with great humor. Also , the female protagonist is not the typical wilting stereotype one expects in this genre. This is especially fun for those who’ve read a lot of regency romances and found them a bit trying after a while. Good alternative for Heyerdahl fans who’ve run out of her books

A Worthy Listen

Once again Ms Metzger shines and Ms Rathborne entertains. This is a brilliant match of talent that delivers a noteworthy experience. Ms Rathborne has the perfect voice for Ms Metzger’s brand of storytelling. She (Rathborne) gives excellent pitch and nuance to the characters.
Whenever there is a new release of the pairing of Metzger and Rathborne, it is an automatic purchase for me.

Not clean or interesting

Sometimes even if a book is not clean but is still good I will keep reading. I tried with this book but was disappointed as it continued to be a foreplay of scenes for the newly married couple and I felt uncomfortable. It’s like a comedian who runs out of witty jokes and so he reverts to perverted jokes. Some of her books are clean and at the some time well written and hilarious. Perhaps author ran out of witty jokes when she wrote this book.
