I didn't care for the narrator at first but after getting into the story, I found her to be perfect for this book. As in all of Barbara Metzger's books, there is plenty of interesting plot and amusing banter to keep the listener happy for hours!

Great story!

I remember reading the book several years ago & it's still a very entertaining story.

Still a great story

Loved the characters in the book. I've read other books by this author and she's never disappointed me. The narrator was also a great fit.

Death with doses of humor

I love this story. Can never get enough of it. I chose to listen to it for a change. I found that I could not appreciate the narrator.

One of my favourites

the heroine is BLONDE! I SWEAR it's just a sign of shoddiness. Thankfully there are professionals such as Pippa Rathborne and Barbara Metzger that create top notch audiobook magic. This is another witty and wonderful story that's easy and fun to listen to. It's not the best but it's good. I enjoyed the sympathetic depiction of the Bow Street Runner. He was a great guy.

the cover is terrible but the inside is wonderful

I thoroughly enjoyed the twisting plot and unique characters in this lively tale. What fun!

A murder mystery with humor

Amusing, smart writing. The narrator's voice I find a little grating and she speaks too fast. Lowing the speed of the play made her too slow. Sigh. Actually if the writer wasn't so good, I wouldn't have stuck with this book. But the writer is that good. So many of these types of book have such poorly constructed and unbelievable story lines, they make you want to scream. Not so with Barbara Metzger.

Barbara, spend the extra and get a really good narrator and you'd have a following on Audible.

Smart, funny writing

I could see where this would be a fun story with plenty of humor in how the characters relate and interact, but I had a little trouble sticking to it. Lots of fast speed and fast forwarding on this one. Narrator is good, but sometimes her characters seem much older than they are.

Lighthearted with humor and twists

I read the reviews saying how funny and entertaining. listening to this audible was like listening to two miserable old couple bicker for 6 hours.

Not Funny!

I can’t imagine what this couples marriage will be like. They shouted at each other every time they got close enough to see the whites of their eyes. 🙄 My biggest complaint for the story has to do w/the ending so I can’t say w/out spoiling it, lol.

And Pippa Rathbourne has a terribly irritating voice when she’s shouting thru the whole book! Between her voice the characters irascibility, I’d skip this one. Imo ymmv, etc.
