About this listen

Lights! Camera! Homicide!

Contractor Shannon Hammer has to dig through murder suspects in the latest Fixer-Upper Mystery from the New York Times best-selling author of Eaves of Destruction and Once upon a Spine.

Don't miss the Hallmark Movies and Mystery Originals starring Jewel, based on the Fixer-Upper Mystery series!

Shannon Hammer’s younger sister, Chloe, left Lighthouse Cove after high school to make it big in Hollywood. And she did it! Chloe is the cohost of a popular home-repair show on the Home Builders Network. Now, after 10 years, she has returned to their quaint coastal hometown to film several shows featuring her sister, Shannon, along with some special mini-segments on Victorian style and design.

But Shannon quickly realizes that things are not exactly blissful in TV land. Bree, the executive producer of the show, has a knack for stirring up sticky situations, and when she’s found dead, Chloe and the entire crew are under suspicion. Shannon, her thriller-writer boyfriend, Mac, and their crime-solving friends soon unearth the real reason Chloe left home.

Is that 10-year-old secret connected to Bree’s death? And can Shannon track down the real killer before her beloved sister becomes the next victim?

Wrench in the Works was quite an entertaining murder mystery. It is well plotted with subtle clues to "who done it." I was able to follow the storyline without having read/listened to all the previous books in the series. Eileen Stevens does a wonderful job with the narration. Her male characters sounded "male" and not like a woman trying to imitate a male voice. The audio was a good length, just under 8 hours. It was entertaining and a pleasure to listen to.

I enjoyed this story line. The different roles each sister has
In their shared vocational passions gives good insight into their personalities. The unexpected trouble that haunts Chloe was a surprise for me. It is well designed and described.
I’m eager for the next book to be released on Audible!

Shannon is at it again in this new a fixer upper mystery. This time we have a number of suspects in the latest murder in Lighthouse Cove. And we finally get to meet Chloe, who is just like your sister with a love of fixing up old homes and learn why it’s taken so long for her to finally come back home.

Shannon's sister Chloe comes to town to shoot an episode of her tv show and who better to help her out than Shannon. Along the way, we learn why Chloe has stayed away for so long (you'll have to read it yourself to find out why). There are many twists and turns and laughs throughout the story and I never did guess who the culprit was. As always, finishing one of Kate's books leaves me hungry for the next in the series.
I normally read books and only listen to audiobooks while driving to and from work. However, I was given a copy of this one for free in exchange for leaving a review. It takes much longer to listen to a book than to read it! Hearing the story in the different voices of the characters does add to the overall experience though. I would have given it 5 stars but most of the women's voices sounded the same to me; I could not distinguish between them based on the voices alone.

Another great installment
