Publisher's summary

The thirst for vengeance drives the Sunja gladiators to extreme measures in the fourth installment of this epic fantasy series.

The fighting season continues, and Goll prepares to participate once again in the games, as one man plots revenge upon the returning Kree. Growing weary of the insolent Prajus, golden-faced Gastillo seeks to strike a bargain with the wine merchant Nexus, which would rid him of his troublesome gladiator and provide him with the wealth needed to leave the Pit forever.

Seeking death, Pig Knot wanders the alleys and backstreets of Sunja and discovers that the city of his birth does not favor him in the least. Meanwhile, the captured Jackals embrace the Pit and discover the arena sands do favor them. And the Perician Weapon—now known as Wonder—faces perhaps his most telling match yet . . .

Perfect for fans of Gladiator and A Game of Thrones!

much better than last book

this book has a great story and does not get bogged down in endles ramblings of drunk characters, yes there is still a lot of gratuitous drinking and pointless meandering conversation that does not advance the story, but it seems to embellish a world that I the author has created and we get plenty of gladiator fights and back stories performed expertly by Mr. Lee.

We need Book 6 ya Unfit Topper ;)!!!

Wow 😳 👏 🔥! What an amazing ride here! Hardcore Sci-fi makes up over 95% of my library, I had never heard of this author B4, I got on this series B/C John Lee narrates all the books and he's just hands down my favorite Narrator. Now I'm sold on Keith, his writing style is epic with deep nuances, character and plot development are next level. I couldn't put this series down I burnt through all the books in less than two weeks! I think he could go 2 or 3 more books here with no problem. Liked it so good I'm reading another series now written by Keith! Do yourself a favor pick up this Omnibus it's in my mind cheap, I would have paid full price for each book!

worthy

I'm still loving this story. Once again, very well read and performed by John Lee.
This book presented some good plot thickeners. However, there is only one more book in the series at the writing of this review, and I worry that if its the last book, it will feel rushed or underdeveloped.
This one was excellent, though, and Mr. Blackmore has never let me down before. It was great to explore a bit more from the supporting characters.
I am looking forward to the next installment.
This guy can really spin a tale.

Captivating

Just as I had anticipated, the series just gets better and better. This author is a master storyteller and writer. The series was slow to start but it has steadily picked up and is now very engrossing and captivating. Each character is so well fleshed out that you feel their pride and their humanity in this Roman inspired gladiatorial game and the challenge of the gladiatorial houses. Onwards and upwards to book 5.

This series is great!

I am burning through these books so fast it’s getting expensive. Buying the next one now, and I’m not mad about it. 🤣

Loved this one

I really liked the back story of the agent’s spy girl. Quick and efficient. What was it? Half a chapter? I feel like I know her and her whole family. I am beginning to get the impression that Keith just writes and writes until enough pages are accumulated then wraps it up until the next one. I felt there should have been something more on the jackels of the pit. It seems their presence there is having the wrong effect on the minds of the people. Enough time was spent on them, maybe a word of regret from king jun?
