Editorial reviews

Thousands of years of oral tradition are passed on through this clear and unadorned performance of more than 100 short, moral tales credited to the Greek slave and fabulist Aesop. Familiar fables include "Androcles and the Lion", "The Grasshopper and the Ants", "The North Wind and the Sun", and "The Fox and the Stork". The collection is a handy showcase for Aesop’s keen observations of animal characteristics and human foibles, as well as a great introduction to stories popular around the globe that serve as the inspiration for such well known phrases as "sour grapes" and "a bird in the hand".

Would you listen to Aesop's Fables again? Why?

Yes. My daughter loved the stories.

What other book might you compare Aesop's Fables to and why?

Flower Fables, because they are both a set of stories. The Flower Fables doesn't have the morals though.

What about Alec Sand’s performance did you like?

Great voices.

Great stories

Any additional comments?

So many of the audio renderings of Aesop's Fables have been reduced to childish slapstick. Alec Sand's somber narration of Aesop's fables reminds us that these parables, while seldom felicitous, are never pointless.

Finally, An Aesop's Fables for adult fans!
