Publisher's summary

The survivors learned how to fight the infected, but not how to defeat the virus.

The Texas Safe Zone is home to four million refugees, trapped behind the walls of Fort Bliss - too many people and not enough food. In a desperate gamble, the Army unit responsible for securing the walls begins to cast its net far and wide for pre-outbreak food storage locations. Not everyone will make it home.

For Sidney Bannister, the Safe Zone has become a nightmare she can no longer endure. She must find a way to leave before her baby is born or risk never experiencing freedom again.

Follow Sidney’s story from the Phalanx Press collaborative novel Five Roads to Texas.

This is the second in this awesome zombie apocalypse series that I have listened to. Such a good listen that I immediately started on the third in the series! The narrator did such a great job. He really brought the characters to life. I received this for free for an honest review.

Fort Bliss coming to a boil!

After the Roads focuses on the refugee camp at Fort Bliss, Texas. Initially the camp was designed to hold a maximum of one million people with additional camps outside the wire to handle any overflow. The camp now houses four million refugees! Food is running low, supplies non-existent. Our gal Sydney is six months pregnant and manages to maintain her reputation as an obstinate biatch. The soldiers live in barracks outside the camp maintaining a minimal supply of food and materials. Should the refugees discover this biased treatment, all hell would break loose. The military is aware of the issues and is at a loss on how or if the situation can be remedied. Where to acquire more food and how to make what remains last longer? In the meantime Sydney considers getting out of Dodge. Will she make it? Great Story in this new Shared World!

After the Roads: A Five Roads to Texas Novel written by Brian Parker and narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen. This is a sequel of sorts but this time we only have one of the original five authors from the first books taking their character off into in a new storyline. After the Roads follows Sidney Bannister from the first book. The Safe Zone in Texas holds four million refugees. Fort Bliss is running low on food and supplies near the base to scavenge. Sidney wants to leave before a disaster happens and before her baby is born. If you enjoy Post Apocalyptic Fiction/Zombie this will something you may enjoy.

The narration is provided by Andrew B. Wehrlen. Mr. Wehrlen does an excellent job with this varied cast of characters once again. Each character has their own unique voice and this makes for a really great listening experience. The Production Value of the audiobook is of the highest quality. The audiobook is produced by Phalanx Press and the production length is 5 hours and 41 minutes. The entire production was crisp and clear through the entire performance. a worthy installment of an ever increasing series

Sidney was my favorite character from the progenitor book of the series, "5 Roads to Texas". she is smart and sassy and resourceful. i can't wait to read more of her story.

Sidney's story continued

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

This is the first full novel in the Five Roads to Texas series and a good one to start it off. In this book, we pick up Sidney's story from where we left her in the first book. Sidney is in a bad place, having started a riot unintentionally just because she needed clothes that fit her pregnant body. The base is too packed with people and she can feel the tension, especially after the riot, building too high. We get to meet some other characters from the anthology and once Sidney and the others escape the base, we seem to follow them more than Sidney. Which is ok, because Sidney isn't in on the fights or anything so her story would be pretty dull if we didn't have the other perspectives.

There's a lot of things that happen and some of it seems a little unbelievable but it still makes for a good story. The two brothers are wonderful disgusting and you feel bad for the sisters and their grandpa. What Jake and Sidney find at the farm is as close to paradise as you can find in a situation like this. I'm curious to see what's going to happen with them next and if Jake is going to somehow end up working with Ian or maybe join the fight against the people trying to take over the country. The only complaint I have is Carmen's portrayal. It seems a little too stereotypical and I wish the author hadn't gone down that route with her and had given us a strong female character instead of a stereotype.

Mr. Wehrlen again does good with reading the story, though I still wish there were a bit more differences in his character voices, but even still it doesn't distract from the story. Mr. Wehrlen keeps the action from being overwhelming but keeps the slower spots moving at a good pace so you don't get bored. He brings life and personality to the characters, helping you connect with them and care about what happens with them.

Fantastic follow up to book 1

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a fantastic zombie apocalypse serires and a great follow up to book 1. I like Andrew Wehrlen as a narrator and he did a good job of enriching the story with his voice. I have really enjoyed the story so far I just wish it was longer like the first book. All in all, this was a great listen and I will definitely look for more in the Five Roadds to Texas series.

WWZ from long time surivers POV

The novel takes a slightly different take from the first book has sticks to a just a couple of chacthers to tell apart of there story in months since the pandemic. Do I wised the novel gave a warning tha there would be violent sexcual content in later chs even more then in the first book has really wasn't expect such gross details.

Roads

After the Roads A Five Roads to Texas Novel
: Brian Parker

This is a continuation of A Five Roads to Texas. Unfortunately I didn't read that first. I might of had a better perspective if I had. Thus being said.....
the listener is taken on a journey of survival after the apocalypse. Lots of action, drama, suspense, and a touch of romance keeps the listener engaged. When I find time I will go back and listen to the first book.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Andrew B. Wehrlen brought the story to life.
