About this listen

Stranded amid the stars. Fighting for survival.

Appointed by the Power in the wake of their planet’s destruction, Gredin struggles to lead her 900 grief-stricken countrymen, and provide food for their tables when the Vennans’ supplies were only meant to last for four short days on Tradepoint. How can she comfort them and win their trust, with Tetralanna contradicting and undermining her at every turn?

The Vokastra, owners of Tradepoint, want the 900 Vennans gone. Now. And the Hesch, a tall, surly, bird-like race, are furious with Gredin for accidentally injuring their leader, Nitikikani. No apology will suffice. They ban the Vennans from their maartza, ignoring the Vennans’ desperate need for supplies.

Something else is afoot, as well – a mysterious malady that threatens to rob the Vennans of the very gyftes that give their lives purpose and their hearts hope. And Gredin, exhausted and disheartened, fails to notice that she is being stalked by a more immediate danger, one determined to drag her down to ruin.

Or to her death.

The Vennans are back! Join them in Aftershock, Book 2 of The Tradepoint Saga, a space opera featuring high adventure, mortal stakes, and multiple sentient species. Perfect for fans of CJ Cherryh, Arkady Martine, Wen Spencer, and Star Trek: Picard.

This book is Tops!

I seriously love Refuge by JJ Blacklocke! Between the tightly written, character driven story, and Kate Reading's wonderful performance, this is Tops!
So it's no wonder that I had to buy extra credits just so I could get the audio of Aftershock! And Aftershock is 'effing brilliant, definitely well worth the money spent. Taking place exactly where Refuge ended! I'm stunned by how much I enjoyed it! Again Kate Reading is stellar! If you look at most of my reviews you'll see I generally crave action, but in this book action takes the back seat to this fantastic character driven plot, taking place solely on Tradepoint station and leaving me "Bereft" (pun intended) while I wait for the next book!

Great book but

It's a good book that I enjoy listening to but the story needs to move along much quicker. At the rate the first two books are told it will take forever to get to a satisfying ending. Get to the point quicker so we aren't burning 10 credits to find out whats the end.

The stages of grief. Can we get past 'denial'?

Most of the dialogue in this book revolves around these people's denial about an obvious truth. I hope by the end of the second book we finally make it past this plot point and they begin to do something about it or figure out why it happened. The denial dialogue filler is really getting boring.
