About this listen

Feeling jilted and cross, Agatha follows a fortune-teller's advice and rents a cottage in the pretty village of Fryfam, where she hopes good fortune and true love will come chasing after her. Unfortunately, her romantic notions are soon dispelled by the strange goings-on in the village. What are those strange lights in Agatha's back garden? Who is stealing paintings and pottery? And who murdered the local squire? Agatha's nose for trouble leads her into a maelstrom of jealousy, blackmail, and dangerous liaisons....

I’ve read all of the Agatha Raisin series in years past, loved it so much, I am doing a “do-over”.

Love, love, love Agatha Raisin!

Love the far flung plot/s. Agatha’s attempt at mystery writing , the fairies and the characters.
Fryfam will never be the same…

Agatha runs away to a fairy land

Each story I cannot decide if I like Agatha or not. She is a dichotomy. As are many of the characters. It is different from other books l listen to. In the end they are overall fun stories. And I do keep going back for more. What stupid thing will she do next?

Agatha raisin grows on you.

This is a great series which I have spoken about before. The series continues to grow in its story introducing new characters to bulk out the back story and add layers and texture to future stories.

a wonderful series

I listened to the entire book and it did keep my attention due to the performance of the narrator. The mystery wasn’t too difficult to figure out as I figured it out immediately. I am glad I gave it go however, I’m not sure I’ll listen to anymore of the series.

Kept my attention but just ok.

Look forward to the next one wish James was a bit more nicer and had a bit more involvement in the story

Good story

Really great story with a good mystery. Penelope Keith is such a good actress and brings each character to life. Highly recommend!

Fun story!

This is a wonderful, well- narrated story which pulls Agatha Raisin into nonstop action with Sir Charles while James Lacey is hundreds of miles away, at least physically.

Never a dull moment!!

Penelope Keith brings Beaton’s characters to life. It is a marvel how she can change her voice so slightly, but creates and matches the perfect intonation and voice to each character. M.C. Beaton is subtly humorous, and I particularly love how Keith voices Sir Charles—I giggle aloud while listening. I can’t imagine a better cozy mystery writer or cozy mystery reader!

Penelope Keith and M. C. Beaton = Perfection

M. C. Beaton is a splendid writer and I sincerely enjoy the storytelling. Agatha's character is especially relatable because of her flaws. I'm reading every word of every Agatha Raisin book!

Love Agatha!
