About this listen

After six grueling months back in London, Agatha Raisin returns to her beloved Cotswold village of Carsely - and to the charms of her neighbor, James Lacey. True, James is less than thrilled to see her, but Agatha is soon distracted by a sensational murder. The victim, hiker Jessica Tartinck, spent her life enraging wealthy landowners by insisting on her walking club’s right to hike over their properties. Now she has been found dead....

Another Wonderful Little Tale

The writing and the performance keep getting better with each book. Entertaining and engaging respites, these move along with little or no drag and broader development of characters. They aren't police crime thrillers and they aren't intended to be. Think, Murder She Wrote out some such, except these are more endearing and sufficiently varied to hold your interest book after book. The performance also continues to improve including a character yawning while talking that sounds true to type.

Recommended.

Another great Agatha Raisin!

This is my 4th book and I have thoroughly enjoyed them all. The narrator is excellent and the storylines entertaining. I’ve already added the next 2 books and can’t wait to get listening.

Absolutely love the unlovable Agatha Raisin

Such a haphazard Nancy Drew as Agatha Raisin has never before been seen. Her middle aged woes, generous spirit, and hopeless romantic attitude redeem an otherwise hilariously rude and forthright character. Absolutely love the characters and story development!

Life in the Cotswolds

I think Penelope Keith and M. C. Beaton were born to work together on audible books. They bring the stories to life with actions and characterizations so true to life we actually live in the Cotswolds.

Lots of fun

Agatha books are a good romp. I love the insights into her thinking. I find the audio book to be so much better than the TV series for this reason. The narrator adds something extra that merely reading the book would not.

Love Agatha Raisin

M. C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin books are what started my love for these easy but very entertaining kind of stories. Agatha is a crazy but loveable character.

Good story!

Total twist in several points and ending in a surprise. Charles is introduced in this book and he becomes a favorite of mine. Excellent narration by Penelope Keith.

Hikers, Hilarity, and Homicide

Book Four in the series finds Agatha back home in Carsley after a grueling six month stint in London on a PR job . . . ready to settle in with her cats and the calm life in the Cotswolds, Agatha reintegrates with her friends, including her next door neighbor, James . . . whom she has the hots for . . . but no sooner than Agatha gets home, one of the Walkers of Dembley, Jessica Tartinck, is found murdered . . . once again sending Agatha and James on the search for the killer . . . as James and Agatha become walkers to find out just what this group is really up to, things begin to HEAT up . . . in more ways than one . . . I am TOTALLY hooked on Agatha and this series . . . which, by the way, is PG-13 . . . but since I'm well over 60, I'm allowed . . . lol . . . great resolution and fun, fun, fun ending . . .
