Publisher's summary

The kingdom of Zangaria teeters on the edge of civil war. The nobles are plotting another coup, the merchants are demanding political representation and a say in government, and the peasants are on the verge of outright revolt.

Even the king is dangerously unstable as he grapples with the problems facing his kingdom. Everyone is preparing for war. It will not be long before all hell breaks loose.

And when a deadly secret from the past resurfaces at the worst possible moment, Princess Alassa, one of Emily's closest friends, finds herself having to make a choice that will put her at the center of the storm and determine the future of the kingdom...Or see everything she loves destroyed in the fires of civil war.

Lovely bridge tale

An excellent bridge tale, that filled in the gaps on a book I have already read. I loved hearing the details from Alyssa's point of view, and especially enjoyed scenes with Jade, one of my favourite supporting characters in the terrific series.

(Very strange cover, that can't possibly be Alassa??? even though I am sure that is the intent, when she was out on an adventure at the early part of the time coverage.)

a novella too short but amazing

we have waited too long for this book now this is a five-star story but I do have to say that as a novella have a problem with it because there are certain parts of the book that could be expanded on that would have made it a full fledged book but the fact is we have been wanting on this book 2 explains a lot of things between book 13 and 14 in a school in Magic series so The Kinks can the storytelling in those two books are now smooth out 4 the next part of the story hopefully we won't have to wait as long as we did for this one could and hopefully if he does another novela hopefully instead of a novella he'll do an anthology tell me some short stories about Topix such as stories about the Kingdom and stories about some of the characters we meet throughout the series before they meet Emily overall why this is a five-star story it just needs to be longer it's deserved to be a full story and not novela

Not everything has to be rebellion.

We get it. Girl power. Girls can fight too.
Good grief.
Sorry, you are already more successful at what I want to do than I am, I'm just so sick of this "everyone's out to get me" self victimization of women. I get it. I am one. But just... chill. We are not JUST ambition. We are not what we want. We are more complex than that.

A serious disapointment

I love this series but this novella portrays a character I love in the regular series as a winy selfish person far from the heroic person in the regular series. This is an awful addition to the series.
