About this listen

Contains books one and two of The King's Seer.

The King's Seer, book one

Wake up. Check. Take shower. Check. Get car fixed. Check. End up in an ancient feudal society where kings and warlords run the show. Wait. What?

Serenity has no idea how she ended up in this place or how to get back home. She’s already made enemies of the most powerful men in the country, and the threat of death is a very real concern. The only thing she's got going for her is her very confusing yet strangely prophetic dreams and a powerless prince who thinks she's insane. All Serenity wants is to make her way home, but fate has other plans.

Blessed Moon, book two

Serenity has reluctantly settled into her new role as queen, and to her surprise and other people's dismay, she is flourishing in it. But with the threat of war looming closer and closer, and the country desperately trying to stave off a famine, things are getting more and more dire. To make things even more complicated, Serenity's hopes of returning home may actually come to fruition.

Kang-Dae begins to struggle with the knowledge that he will have to let her go and the effects of it all take a heavy toll. Serenity juggles her duties as queen, her feelings for Kang-Dae, and her devotion to her family. She keeps her focus on getting home, but little by little the idea doesn't sound as sweet as it once did.

There are still those within the palace who wish to remove Serenity and will stop at nothing to do so. Their manipulations could turn not only the country against her, but Kang-Dae as well.

I really hope there is a third book coming up

I chuckle every time Kang Dae shocks one of his subjects and they fire off with, "My King!"
As for this audiobook, I appreciate Adenrele Ojo bringing this book to life and I found this story to be fascinating, however, I was let down by the abrupt ending. For such a long saga, it doesn't seem to be completed to my satisfaction. Please write the third book, Ms Bethel! I beg!

Serenity is a butthole

Thank you L.S Bethel for the charming story. Loved the men not so much serenity. Enjoyed listening to this even if things happened differently to my expectations

Get the book and audible then get lost in a Seers journey!

First off, I’ve already read books 1-4 well before listening to the audible so I was already in love with the books I got the audible because I wanted to support the writer because I felt she needs more love.

My personal opinion
The voice acting was good but I do wish that it was a dual voice. I’m not saying that it’s bad, but I think it would have elevated the telling of the story a lot more if it had a male voice actor.

When I first heard it I thought the FMC voice sounded ….(no offense) aged but I realized the actress is telling us the story like we’re sitting around a camp fire and I came to enjoy that.
She’s the narrator of this story which isn’t bad because that gives a good separation of story telling verses when the characters are speaking.

Overall I still love it which is why I still gave it the rating I did and purchased the other 2 audibles anyway.

Books 1 & 2

Book One:

This was a pretty engaging story about a women who get transported into a world different from her own. Loved that it was an AMBW fantasy and loved how her abilities came alive in the story. My only reason to not giving it a 5 was because I wanted more steam. With stories like this you expect for the heroine and hero to have crazy sexual tension and this read was clean as soap. I read it in audio and that definitely adds to the storytelling! Off to read book 2

Book Two:

I liked book one and held off reading book two to get genre variety(mistake on my end). I think you benefit reading it back to back. The names are easy to forget if you're not used to Korean-inspired names). That doesn't hurt the story and the narration was still on point, but most of the book did feel like her plotting to find her way back home, so when it happened it felt...im not sure. anti-climatic?

Everything felt so unresolved. We learned who one of the biggest betrayers were and why the hero and hero couldn't trust each other. They even somewhat resolved the story line around the woman originally meant to be the hero's wife.

But it ending the way it did, with no book three(a cliff) and no third book in sight is super disappointing. I knew this book series wasn't meant to be steamy, but all we got was one non-descriptive love scene in one of the last five chapters.

The turmoil between kings and the council will always be there, im just not sure the sequel will come soon enough for another series not to take hold of my attention. I liked that the heroine had a lot of people loyal to her but sometimes she was a little annoying with the religious talk XD

Overall, I enjoyed. I hope it doesn't take forever for a resolution otherwise, I may forget all about it.

READ THIS BOOK NOW! It’s SO AMAZING!

This is the best book I have read in years. As an avid reader as well as audible listener, I read A LOT of books so I don’t use those words lightly. I haven’t read a book in years that had me SO desperately interested that I read it everywhere I went. I had one AirPod in listening to the brilliantly dynamic performance by Adenrele Ojo and the other acting like I was listening to the world around me when in all actuality I was in Serenity’s world. I could only pray this might one day become a show.

Now let’s get to the point that truly matters, the world desperately needs to shine more spotlight on innovative authors such as L.S. Bethel. Particularly in the romance space, how many six pack, a-hole, billionaire, and privileged white dudes are we going to have to sit through before we acknowledge that it has been long overdue to have more substance in the genre!? The King’s Seer was alleviating after just having read another white author have a sexually aggressive bad boy scoff at an innocent woman trying to do the right thing only for her to fall in love and just kind of accept that he’s still a jerk (but it’s part of his charm.) Is that really what women want? I sure as hell don’t!

The King’s Seer had so much heart, royal mystery, combat action, and unwavering love but above all an admirable independent black woman. Serenity is a true role model of resilience. She is a real woman who balances prejudices by strategizing her oppressors own selfish desires for her own benefit all while protecting the man she loves. The girl is SMART! The love story? It hit me in all the feels. It’s complicatedly gorgeous. The layers of falling in love with an impossible distance is so romantically dark yet wholesome. L.S. Bethel did a fantastic job encapsulating the reader into this alternate world. The fantasy aspect is so alluring.

My favorite part was the fact that despite all of her struggles with the inexplicable nature of her situation, Serenity’s faith in Jesus never wavered. I could feel the author’s heart through that. I could feel that detail was personal which made Serenity more admirable. It wasn’t a religious novel but her moral stance as a human being was evident.

It is a intricately written story that I beg she continues writing! PLEASE CONTINUE THE STORY! Hahaha I’m dying to know what happens next! Does he come to her world to experience technology? Is the kid in her visions because she is pregnant? There are so many possibilities.

Argh!!

This is a beautiful yet frustrating story. I honestly would not have began this series had I known it would end on a cliffhanger with book #3 no where insight. And actually no promise of a book three. This is my first time reading/listening to this authors work. I took a chance and didn’t read the reviews first. It is a great story and well written, but if you like closure when reading a book, you may want to wait for book three before you begin this series.
