Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home, and a successful media career; a director of several companies and at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful and functioning professional man in spite of a ‘two-bottles-of-wine-a-night" drinking habit. For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed.

What could possibly be “lucky” about addiction? Absolutely nothing, thought Laura McKowen when drinking brought her to her knees. As she puts it, she “kicked and screamed . . . wishing for something - anything - else” to be her issue. The people who got to drink normally, she thought, were so damn lucky. But in the midst of early sobriety, when no longer able to anesthetize her pain and anxiety, she realized that she was actually the lucky one. Lucky to feel her feelings, live honestly, really be with her daughter, change her legacy.

Story
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Story
The Power of Faith is one of the earliest and most profoundly practical works to come from the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale, author of The Power of Positive Thinking. Written in 1940, 12 years before Peale’s classic on positivity, The Power of Faith describes in simple, clear terms how to harness the extraordinary energies of prayer, reflection, faith, and religious insight to revolutionize your life in the areas of relationships, business, self-image, healing, guilt, peace of mind, and purpose.

Story
Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross created her classic seminal work, On Death and Dying, to offer us a new perspective on the terminally ill. It is not a psychoanalytic study, nor is it a "how-to" manual for managing death. Rather, it refocuses on the patient as a human being and a teacher, in the hope that we will learn from him or her about the final stages of life.

Very valuable info.; needs skilled narrator
Content is very helpful!! Please do the text justice and the-record with a skilled ,experienced narrator. I’ve been an audible customer for years now, and this is the first book that seems to not be a “production”. This book is read in a manner that conveys as if there is no consideration to punctuation, making it very hard to process the content.

Life-changer!
This book has changed my life! Only the Bible is more important to me. The 12 steps work and offer a 75% success rate for recovery (the other 25% see improvement); and I have seen that to be true of the population in my AA meetings. If you have a loved one struggling with addiction, please read this book. If you think or know you have an addiction, then this book is for you! God's will be done and may He bless you and keep you.

A lifesaver
For over 80 years, Alcoholics Anonymous has been bringing men and women to sobriety I like no other recovery program. The principles laid out in this book are timeless and should be understood by anybody who is struggling with alcoholism or is in any way connected with someone who is.
