The #1 bestselling kid detective is back! Mysteries, crime-solving, homeroom—all in a day's work for Ali Cross.

Ali Cross has always looked up to his father, the famous detective Alex Cross. And after helping to solve two big cases, Ali knows he has what it takes to follow in his father's footsteps. Eager to keep solving crimes, Ali and his friends hack into police calls and go to crime scenes to watch the detectives at work—and try to crack the cases themselves.

But when Ali witnesses something horrible, he has to grapple with tough questions about what it means to be a detective, and a detective's son. Will Ali find a way to follow in his father’s footsteps . . . or will he be the one in danger’s path?

Different opinions

My kids loved it

I thought the story line was the weakest of the three books. I was smeared in the other two but lost interest about half way through. But my boys 9 and 11 thought it was awesome

love all Croas Novels but....

Ali is a trip and a bit of a rebel. I loved all of these short stories from his perspective.

love it,!!

I have grown fond of the Ali Cross novels. his character development is on point and realistic. the route Ali is taking is shaping up to be to truly phenomenal. I can't wait to see how far his growth goes and more obstacles he face especially with him getting closer to going to high school. It's a great and face paced read

Unbelievable

Ali Cross is a bright, smart and curious young black man. His father is a renown detective who consults for both the metro PD and the FBI. Ali in this 3rd book of the series has the detective bug.

And this being his 3rd book has disobeyed his Black Police detective daddy numerous times. Before he can serve out one punishment he’s disobeyed his dad again. The last instance there is gunfire.

There is absolutely no way that this young man would continue to be able to do this in a black household. Nope it’s way too far fetched. However the stories are intriguing and the school debate had great thought behind it. I still think James can delve further into this subject. Still worth the read.

Spoiler Alert-Love This Series-Christine

I absolutely love the Ali Cross series and recommend it for adults and children. I love his friends and especially Cedric. Cedric is like Ali’s version of Sampson! The big dude that looks older than he really is, and defends him. I really miss Ruby though and hope she comes back in the next book. Ali is so mischievous, he lies, and doesn’t listen at all but it’s all in a good way. Hard to be upset with him. I love his personality but I fell in love with him while reading the Alex Cross series. He’s the perfect child to pattern after his father with being a detective. Ali is super intelligent, has a great deal of personality, and isn’t shy at all. You gotta love him! Yes, I am so looking forward to reading Book 4!!

My heart totally melted at the reference of his mother! Christine is my favorite of all Alex’s women, and I hate the way they wrote her in the Alex Cross series. Christine is Ali’s mother and I know she loves him as much as he loves her. When Ali totally made it clear that Bree is his step-mother my heart leaped. I like Bree okay, but she’s not his mom and I don’t like the way Alex treated Christine. However, when Alex and Ali had a moment together and Alex bought up the “sweet reference” of his mother, my heart exploded. It was a perfect moment to reference her, it was just the two of them and they were experiencing a special closeness in that moment! More of this please and thank you!!!

The narrator is perfection. Keep him please and thank you!!!!!

Ali Cross Investigator

I’m wondering if there will be a 4th book in the Ali Cross Series? All 3 of the books are good. I’m also wondering if Me. James Patterson has given any thought to how he will develop this character as he ages him out of middle school and out of college? I’m hoping that he does something bigger and better like, have Ali Cross become and Agent with Homeland Security. And be the lead Agent in the very newly formed Joint HLS and The FBI, that works with MPD (DC Police)’ LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department), NYPD ( ew York Police Department, NOPD (New Orleans Police Department, CPD (Chicago Police Department), plus a few other large cities and cities that have very busy ports. Have the team picked by the then 2nd (soon to be the newly appointed Secretary of Homeland Security HLS) and overseen by the one and only Alex Cross, also picked to head the Joint Team (HLS & FBI). He (Alex) was picked because of his work with both MPD and The FBI and that he has is PhD combined with his work as a psychologist makes him the right person for the job, plus he knows how to keep the peace between the Feds and the Local PD’s Offices (well for the most part). The 2nd in command at HLS assigned Ali Cross as the lead/Head of the Team at the request of his coworker, and didn’t realize that Alex and Ali were Father and Son. After realizing, the situation, and not wanting to let either of the Cross men go from the team, he contacted Ali to come in 2 hours earlier then he had been informed. He needed to see the younger Cross eyes and reactions once he tells him what has happened and to see if he would be able to still be the Lead/Head Team Member, understanding that the Senior Cross is the Head of The Joint Venture (let’s call him The Director. So, he meets with Ali, tells him the situation and determines that the younger Cross was very truthful with his answers (he could deal with the situation, that the Senior Cross, should be The Director because he has been in law enforcement both Federal in’s Local PD, and has decade of experience. And so the adventures begins. From dealing with terrorist threats to multiple states jurisdictions serial killings and so much more.
