About this listen

Who will forgive you when you can't forgive yourself?

The Colonial Scouts are an elite group of explorers who seek out habitable planets for the Colonial Expansion Board. They travel through space via programmable wormholes.

Natica is drowning in siblings. She hopes that if she becomes a Scout, she will rise above her brothers and sisters and shine. But when a man dies because of her mistake, she leaves the program and returns home a failure.

Her homecoming is even worse than she imagined. Her twin brother is missing. Despite warnings from the authorities, she searches for him and embroils herself in a growing mystery with far-reaching consequences.

Will she save her brother from himself? Or will he save her?

Fun Sci-fi Adventure

What did you love best about Alien Seas?

I appreciated the fact that the author inserted parts in reference to the first 2 books because I hadn't read those.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien Seas?

When Natica's twin brother went missing, and Impani had followed Natica home and was set on helping her in searching for him.

What about Jennifer Fournier’s performance did you like?

She gave each character distinct voices and attitudes

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Teen drama and complications...will their friendship survive?

Teen Drama

Would you try another book from Roxanne Smolen and/or Jennifer Fournier?

I hadn't noticed earlier that the book is targeted to 8-10 year olds, and thus I was slightly disappointed with the story structure of this book. But when I saw the categorization of the book in Audible, I kinda understood. The book is supposed to be easily digestible and light read. Good for readers / listeners of that age group. Not really my thing at the age of 30.

I would check out other works of Roxanne Smolen if there are any for adults.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would guess the story is good enough as it is for the target audience of 8-10 year olds. If it were for more mature readers, the characters would benefit from a more detailed development and better interaction among themselves. Instead of mostly white and black character shades, some gray areas would be great too.

What three words best describe Jennifer Fournier’s performance?

Distinct. Clear. Pleasant.

Fantastic fast pace Sci-fi

This is a fantastic teen read story! It’s well written and narrated! I found that this author has a wonderful imagination and puts a lot of thought into the storyline. It’s not my normal type of genre but I was intrigued by the description. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook so I bought the rest of the series.
The storyline gets better as the story continues. This 3 book in the series has more action, adventure, intrigue, and suspense.
