About this listen

Wendy doesn't remember anything about Neverland or the experiments done on her there as a child. Seven years later, all she wants is a normal life, but shape-shifting shadows plague her dreams and turn her life into a waking nightmare. When the shadows attack at a football game and a boy disappears right in front of her, she realizes these wraith-like shadows are real. They're not just haunting, they're hunting. A mysterious boy named Peter, his foul-mouthed sidekick, and a band of misfit boys intervene before Wendy faces a similar fate. But can they trust Wendy enough to take her to Neverwood Academy and reveal all of their hidden secrets when she's hiding a secret of her own, or will the dreaded Red Skulls find her and drag her back to Neverland?

This story is so fun!

An excellent book. It grabbed me immediately, and is so cleverly written. Stephanie Willis is amazing! She is a true talent. Chanda Hahn is an exceptional story teller, and I love her reinvented world and characters.♥️

Dark, but highly intriguing. A fantastic book.

I was predisposed to like this book due to the Peter Pan theme, but wound up more and more intrigued as I listened. Knowing the Peter Pan story (book or movie) won’t spoil the plot of this book, trust me.

Great pace, wonderful characters. A bit dark and violent for younger audiences - I would recommend for teens+ though.

The first few chapters may leave you wondering “what am I listening to and where is this going?!” By the end you’ll be pretty impressed at the journey.

This book surprised me and turned out to be well-deserving of my first-ever Audible review (not that I haven’t listened to others, but this is the first to tug my heart enough to warrant).

As for the narrator: I think she did extremely well. Good switch between characters. My only qualm is that sometimes she over-acted more than necessary.

Surprisingly good

I was hesitant to start this book fearing it might be too much of a children's tale. It wasn't and I'm so happy I finally listened to it. It had surprising but familiar twists and turns and never lost my interest. I am eagerly starting the next book in the series.

Amazing!!

This story reminded me of a cross between Peter Pan and Stranger Things!

I loved every reference to the old Peter Pan story and how the characters were developed. So many twists and surprises along the way too! I was shocked at a few points and had to take a few seconds to process things!

This is definitely a book for anyone who loves Peter Pan, fantasy and a modern fairytale twist. (Oh, and always wishing Peter and Wendy could fall in love is helpful too)

Stephanie's voice acting was FANTASTIC in this! She put so much emotion into the characters and made them feel alive. I can't wait to get started on the next book!!! :)

Loved This New Take!

Let me start with saying I am partial already, and love Chanda Hahn's tales. It just can't be helped with her fairy tale themes, and normally naive heroines until they get their butts in gear. Her tales just suck you in, and Lost Girl is a chip off the 'ole fairy tale block!

Wendy is an all American girl, who has a great life, with great parents, a great brother, and a great fear of the dark. Why you ask? Because all her life she feels shadows watching her with evil intent. Thinking she's just crazy, Wendy has always dismissed them, but on one fateful day she meets a boy that changes everything for her. Because Wendy starts remembering a past from before she was adopted. And Wendy's not as crazy as she thinks she is.

Meeting new people with random abilities, Wendy is soon thrust into a life she didn't want, but with people and shadows after her, the only action she has left is to jump, and hope that someone will catch her.

Loved all the characters, and the plot was done very well! The only issue I had, and this is probably just because I missed hearing it while listening to the story, was I was a bit confused on the evil shadow thing and what they actually did to the person. Again, probably got sidetracked and didn't hear it when it was said, but I figured out the majority of what they were. Still loved the tale, and can't wait to listen to the next one in the series!

Twist to an old story!

I really enjoy the author, I've listened to the Fable series and enjoyed it so much I decided to give this one a try and I'm not disappointed.
