About this listen

After one wild night together, two complete opposites plan to stay firmly in the friend zone, but life has other plans in this delightful romantic comedy perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez.

As a successful book publicist, Imani Lewis works night and day to promote her authors. It’s her dream job, but she’s become a total workaholic. So when her grandmother invites her to stay for the summer as she recovers from surgery, Imani happily agrees. But being back in the same small town as her one-night stand may not be quite the relaxing break she envisioned…

Zander Matthews wakes up every day determined to enjoy the present because he knows from his time in the Marines that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. But he’s never gotten over the beautiful woman who blew through town a year ago, then disappeared. And he doesn’t want to be hurt again. So they agree to a deal: he’ll help Imani fix up her grandmother’s house as long as they stay firmly in the friend zone.

Whether it’s repairing tiles in his ceramics studio, dodging nosy neighbors, or soothing the most obnoxious parrot ever, Zander never fails to make Imani laugh. And soon their friendly banter is turning ever flirtier. But since Imani’s stay is temporary and Zander can’t be tied to anything beyond the most tenuous plans, will she be able to handle it when things get all fired up?

Up, up and away!

What a great book to curl up with and escape with Imani and Zander. Both narrators were perfect for their roles and I think at this point I would listen to anything that Max Lloyd narrated. The story progressed nicely and had some great turns and twists along the way (or maybe back and forth would be a better way to describe it) I felt comfortable with the characters having gotten to know most of them and the first book. Yes, there were a few times I wanted to strangle Imani ( I thought she was rough on him after an incident with her grandmother, Gigi) but the entire book I was rooting for she and Zander. The book starts off in Buffalo (after bringing Imani to Wellsville from the city) with a hilarious scene at a restaurant involving Zander and a glittery shirt, which was a wonderful way to show his character and his playfulness. What follows is the cat and mouse game that the two played over the summer. I love that the balloon really was included and that the charm of the Town showed through. Both Imani and Xander learned a lot about themselves in the book and they learned to look at things from a different view. I recommend this book to any rom com fan!

A sweet sequel

A sweet sequel to How Sweet It Is! I really enjoyed it. I really like Imani and her realistic flaws and insecurities. Definitely recommend!

Simile addiction

The story isn’t bad but the author’s steady flow of similes served as such a distraction from the story that it was difficult to stay engaged.

Disappointed!!! Save your credit

I had high hopes for this sequel to Dylan Newton’s book How Sweet It Is romance. The characters are the same as that story and though it was over the top, I could find like able characters and liked the main female character and her bestie Armani. The second book, All Fired Up brings Armani into the main role. What a narcissistic, self centered, neurotic character that as much as I tried, she kept finding ways for me to dislike her. Her love interest, Zander, was a wonderful, loveable guy who also doubled as her spineless, walk all over me while I use you boyfriend. I wanted to scream at him, just move on guy!!! She’s not worth it unless you’re serving her. There was Ptsd and bipolar thrown in, and I’ve Knowledge of both. It never justified she sheer lack of self awareness or self involved behavior. I was angry to have wasted my time but I kept expecting it to get better. The narrators were good.
