Robert Fulghum
About this listen
Here Fulghum engages us with musings on life, death, love, pain, joy, sorrow and the best chicken-fried steak in the continental USA. The love story of Jean-Francois Pilatre and his hot air balloon reminds us to be unafraid to "fly"...life lessons hidden in the laundry pile...magical qualities found in a box of crayons. All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten is brimming with the very stuff of life and the significance found in the smallest details.
In the years that have passed since the first publication of this book, Robert Fulghum has had some time to ponder, to reevaluate and to reconsider. Here are those fresh thoughts on classic topics, right alongside the wonderful new essays. Perhaps in today's more challenging world, these essays on life will resonate more deeply as listeners discover how universal insights can be found in ordinary events.

For the last couple of years, Fulghum has been traveling the world, from Seattle to the Moab Desert to Crete, looking for a few fellow travelers interested in thinking along with him as he delights in the unexpected.

To thrive in today's fast-changing world, people of all ages must learn to think and act creatively....

Why America's sons are underachieving, and what we can do about it. Something is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, American boys are, on average, less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. The gender gap in college attendance and graduation rates has widened dramatically. In Boys Adrift, Dr. Leonard Sax delves into the scientific literature and draws on more than 20 years of clinical experience to explain why boys and young men are failing in school and disengaged at home.

Story
"The Mis-Education of the Negro" is a book originally published in 1933 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. The thesis of Dr. Woodson's book is that blacks of his day were being culturally indoctrinated, rather than taught, in American schools. This conditioning, he claims, causes blacks to become dependent and to seek out inferior places in the greater society of which they are a part. He challenges his readers to become autodidacts and to "do for themselves", regardless of what they were taught.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Story
Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

I have discovered a group of women who refuse to be exploited, are immune to manipulation, and who never settle in the name of love. These ladies know what they want and take what they want by beating men at their own game. Utilizing the secrets exposed in this book, these women gain power, money, and status. Men call them gold diggers, women call them hos, but they call themselves winners. This is the book that society doesn't want you to listen to….

One of the best!
Robert Fulghum is the wise and funny friend everyone wishes they had for their very own.
As for the reviewer who said he had a boring voice -- RIDICULOUS! He has a wonderful, soothing, friendly, loving voice.
I highly recommend this audio book and it's companion book. I read the original book, and now I'm hearing him read it; and all the new essays are just as good as the original.
Get it, and get a new perspective on life!

Medium Expected more
Listening to "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten", written and narrated by Robert Fulghum, has given me joy and pleasure in childhood flashbacks.
I have never attended kindergarten. So, I probably thought I would gain it after listening to this Audible original.
Only 3💫.

Feeling Better About Life
Great book to listen to while traveling. Both humorous and thought provoking. Eventhough it's been around for decades it's still very entertaining.

Highly entertaining, touching, and inspirational
Not only is he a great story teller, he has lived an interesting, rich life. I found myself looking forward to the commute to and from work just so that I could listen to his book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has time to listen. It is easy to follow his stories and unlike some books, it translates beautifully to audio.

I have a new hero…
Need I say more than the title of this review? Do I wish I read the first edition back when it was first published? No, only perhaps no. No and yes. Mr. Fulghum would most likely say that I read this book at exactly the right time. The important part is that I did read it. Oh, and when I say read, of course I mean that I had story time. The important part is that you too, have story time with this book whether with your eyes or ears but for a real treat, listen. Thank you Robert Fulghum. Now I must go buy a deluxe box of 64 Crayolas for a friend.

Stories with a message
I love the stories that animate the chore message. A pleasant surprise to what I thought was a somewhat mundane topic. The performance was excellent because off the confident peaceful demeanor out the performer. I was pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely Wonderful
I have never written a review before (have been an audible subscriber for over a year), however, I had to take the time to recommend this book to others. It is a compilation of wonderful stories that will make you laugh, smile, cry, cheer, and just be glad your alive. It is not over done, preachy, or syrupy. I listened to it on a recent trip and it made me reassess all that is good in my life. I guarantee the stories will be remembered for years.

Guess they didn't teach narration in kindergarten?
A great book with some really interesting and educational topics. No doubt about it, one will become a better person from listening to this. BUT with that said, I wish the author got an actual narrator to read this book as Fulghum's boring voice put me to sleep.
