Publisher's summary

Not all broken things are ruined.

Then: Ellison Brooks - PTA President, real estate agent extraordinaire, and head bitch in charge with endless friends and parties to attend.

Now: Ellison Brooks - divorced, single mother of two, financially reliant on her awful ex-husband, and utterly lacking self-confidence.

One month after her divorce is final, Ellison’s ex-husband marries the woman he left her for, sending Ellison spiraling into despair. Her friends have abandoned her, her job is in the tank, and she’s lonely for human connection.

The woman who once had everything now does little more than drink wine and focus on the time she has with her kids. She’s a mess and has no idea how to fix herself.

But then Ellison meets Luke, an intriguing stranger who is only in town for the weekend. Determined to break out of her rut, Ellison jumps at the chance for a hot, one-night stand. When it’s over, she walks away from Mr. One Night Only with no idea how to ever reach him again.

Until the first day of school when Luke turns out to be her son's new teacher. Despite their electric connection, Luke is off-limits according to school board rules and everyone around Ellison. But she just can’t stay away.

As the town of Waterford buzzes about her possible romance, Ellison tries to figure out how to navigate the bitchy world of frenemies, town gossips, and a petty ex-husband while piecing herself back together.

Entertaining, easy listen

All the Broken Pieces by Mia Hayes was an enjoyable, easy listen. It's the story of Ellison, a newly single mom whose ex cheated and left her for a younger woman, who is also now pregnant. Ellison is having a difficult time coping with life and she and her friend go out to the bar one night and she ends up meeting Luke and having a one night stand. What she doesn't realize is that Luke is going to be her son's teacher. Well, that leads to some awkwardness all around, and this is the story of her trying to navigate life-mean ex-friends, a super annoying ex-husband, her son's new teacher, her attempts at dating, etc. While the story wasn't the most gripping story I've ever listened to, it was nonetheless a nice, enjoyable listen and I'd listen to more of Ms. Hayes' books in the future.

E.L. Beckett did a good job narrating this story. Her voice was easy to listen to and added to the characters in the book. I'd have no problem listening to more performances by her in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

A good romance listen

I enjoyed this book. There was a lot that I didn't like...for instance the fact that there was a cheating spouse who couldn't make up his mind. But beyond that there were redeeming qualities to the book. I was glad that the main gal was able to 'pick up the pieces" of here life and move on. I was glad she finally got a backbone because for a lot of the story she didn't seem to have one. I liked a lot of the secondary characters as well.

GOOD READ!

I liked it. The narration was great and kept you entertained. The author did a good job with the character builds and plot. This book tells the story of a woman rebuilding her life after a divorce . This was my first book by this author and I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Ellison was a pill!!!

I have never hated a main character as much as I hated Ellison. I get that her husband cheated on her and married his pregnant mistress and that's hard to bounce back from. I even get that losing your spineless friends who befriended the husband-stealing hussy sucks. What I don't get is the constant whining and hand-wringing that Ellison was still in the throws of more than a year later. Get the frack over it already. She was hard to take!!! She really was. More than three-quarters into this book, Ellison was still lamenting and giving these hateful people too much say into how she felt and acted. Grrrrrrrrr.

The narration was excellent!! In fact, more than anything, it's the narration that kept me into this story. I have no idea who book three will focus on. I can only hope she will be more likable.

Good

I got this free copy via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story took a long and winding road around the HEA but it got there and the many twist and decisions that got them there made the story enjoyable. I listened to this story until I fell asleep then picked it back up the next day. It was a good listen and well worth the time it took to get to the end. The narrator was very good and made the story come to life.

All the Broken Pieces

I enjoyed this book. It's a well written story about an almost 40 woman putting her life back together after a divorce shatters it. As Elllison struggles to put her life and herself back together, she begins to see who her real friends are and what love is really supposed to feel like. She becomes a better person because of it. This is an easy listen. The narrator does a good job conveying all of the emotions a woman might go through in that situation, and Luke is pretty awesome. All in all, a nice way to spend a day. You won't be sorry. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and am choosing to leave this honest review.
