Publisher's summary

All the Cowboys Ain’t Gone is the rollicking adventure story of Lincoln Smith, a young Texan living at the beginning of the 20th century who thinks of himself as the last true cowboy. He longs for the days of the Old West, when men like his father, a famous Texas Ranger, lived by the chivalric code. Lincoln finds himself hopelessly out of time and place in the fast-changing United States of the new century. When he gets his heart broken by a sweetheart who doesn’t appreciate his anachronistic tendencies, he does what any sensible young romantic would do: He joins the French Foreign Legion.

On his way to an ancient and exotic country at the edge of the Sahara, Lincoln encounters a number of curious characters and strange adventures, from a desert hermit who can slow up time to a battle with a crocodile cult that worships the god of death. He meets them all with his own charming brand of courage and resourcefulness.

EASY 5 STARS

I will admittedly say that I’m glad I listened to this book because I’m not sure if I would have been able to read it. But after listening… this was so good I absolutely am going to read it. It was kind of a mix between The Alchemist, Heart of Darkness, and Indiana Jones. Heavy on the Indiana Jones at the end and oh my gosh I ate it right up. I wish we had gotten an update on some of the characters from the beginning but that’s my only complaint :)

Cowboys and Treasure and Germans oh my!

All I can think of while reading this is Indiana Jones meets Hidalgo with a side of Secondhand Lions. Adventure, treasure, romance, old world meets progress. so good

Clean Epic humorous heartwarming adventure!

So refreshing! Totally clean! You can give the book to your nephews and grandsons. They will love the adventure and you will not have to apologize crappy words or bad scenes.

Shades of Mark Twain. Clever writing and interesting characters. Humor understated. Great narration. Thoroughly enjoy it.

Fantastic! Should make a movie out of this!

Reminded me a little bit of Harrison Ford’s movies Raiders Of The Lost Ark, and others. Similar humor, Lots of adventures, and great imagination shown by the author. A lot of intrigue, and keeps you wanting to read on. Great story and entertaining! Worth reading.

A bit of fun

This was a time waster. I won't remember this book forever, but it was one I didn't mind finishing. The sort of book to listen to whilst attending to other duties. It was a fun book that I felt lost it's way a tad toward the end but I still enjoyed it.

I liked the characters around the central character. They were well drawn. I also liked the premise of the book; that someone's character can be born in the wrong time.

Put it in a blender

Yes, that’s what it seemed like….the author took every known action trope and included ALL of them in this story. It was just too much.
