About this listen
Can they keep their friendship pure when their hearts long for more?
McKenna Nichols, a young wife abandoned by her husband in favor of his work, is left alone to raise their autistic child. She promised to love him until death parted them. But when circumstances drive a wedge into their marriage and Dane chooses to escape what life has dealt them, how long can she be strong? Can she remain faithful to her marriage vows when tempted by the friendship of an unlikely stranger?
Rudy Taylor, who senses McKenna's loneliness and understands the difficulty of raising her daughter, struggles to keep his concern for the young woman biblical.
Will McKenna’s faith in God and Rudy’s commitment to his Lord be enough to keep their relationship simple until McKenna's husband one day returns?

Story
Five years ago, marine biologist Abby Fisher made a mistake that cost her everything. Rather than face the consequences, she fled home to start anew--and built the career she’d always dreamed of. But when her research program runs out of funding, she’s adrift once again and decides to return to the safe harbor of her family and friends. Except nothing at home is how she remembered. Sweet story of second chances!
I really enjoyed An Anchor on her Heart. Author Patricia Lee brought both the characters and setting to life! Loved hearing descriptions of all my childhood beach haunts as well as learning about the fishing season in Alaska. Good stuff! Also, as a mother of an autistic son, I appreciate stories like this which realistically portray the ups and downs, rewards and challenges, of being the parent of a child with special needs. It isn't always pretty! But it is also totally worth it. Patricia Lee did a lovely job of conveying these things.
Also, the narrator is very easy to listen to. I thought it might bother me that some of the book was from a female perspective and read by a man, but he handled it well and it didn't affect me in the least. The only voice I didn't care for was that of Sydney, the autistic child. She sounded exactly like Mickey Mouse. On the upside, Sydney doesn't talk much since she is autistic, so I only had to hear it peppered a little throughout. Otherwise, it was a great performance by Matt Hicks!
This is a very clean and redemptive story that fans of Christian fiction will enjoy.

Good storyline, likable characters
This was my first audiobook. The characters were likable and well developed. The storyline was good and drew me in quickly. The narrator did a good job of reading and distinguishing voices. This was a good clean story. Would definitely recommend!
